Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

links from a Juventus site to Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia, the 20 year Mailian is attracting a lot of interest, but rumours are that he will only move to a club that can offer him first team football. As he is primarily a defensive midfielder and we like to play with 2 of those most of the time, we are probably a better prospect than Juventus or Sevilla.

I like the fact that Brighton are also interested

In PL history how many times have we bought a PL rivals best player, regardless of where they are in the table ?

Sigurdsson perhaps - he cost a pretty penny. Beattie ? Andy Johnson ? Yakubu ? Pickford ? Gana ?

Usually it is after they are relegated anyway, oir past their sell-by date.

Lukaku stands out as our best PL->PL transfer - even then, he wasn't first team at Chelsea.
Kanchelskis off Utd. Was that in the Prem? Or was it before football was invented?

Really good player but I'd prefer the other Wolves fullback Ait Nouri, only 23 and a much more attacking fullback than Mykolenko. Only thing is Wolves won't want him to leave, he'll be expensive and other clubs will want him.
I would too. But we won’t get him for the reasons you’ve mentioned.

N

Need less older players you are constantly turning them over after a year or two.
He isn't a bad player though saying that.
Wouldn't mind that midfield player off them that was MoM Andre or something looked very good .
The problem is mate, if we do get young talent in and they turn out to be decent, other clubs will take them off us anyway. Onana being an example and more than likely Braithwaite. I’d much rather have Semedo on a free than Patterson. Let’s face it O’Brien has done well (just like lescott when he covered at LB) but his preferred position is centre half.

Weak as anything and very rarely makes the right decision.
Cant play in a back 4 either.

Looks good on the eye because of his 'all action' look

You may as well buy the whole Rangers club and just tranfer him to us it wouldn't be much difference in price .
We could use them as are feeder club.

Think you've missed the news they are just about to be bought over by the owner of the SF 49rs. They are minted now and might actually be run competently. Although now a feeder club to Leeds!

Not seen much of the boy, but their attacking players do seem to excel in Europe, looks more of an N'diaye type than a DCL/Beto.

I was joking mate .
Leeds are welcome to them.
Think the 49rs are buying a stake in them not the whole thing
Now if it were Hibs we were linked to I would be up for that
The lad looks like he has a bit of skill about him.
Seen him a few times and he drifted out of games a bit.
But maybe it's a fitness thing?
Think I read he hadn’t done a full pre season.
Don't know were he fits in the team , but we will have basically a new one next year so who knows.

Moyes being Moyes I think there are a few unwritten rules we can apply to the transfer window:
- No more than 4-5 players incoming
- No sentimentality for people like Harrison/Doucoure and also I think its the end for Young and Coleman
- He'll hang on to squad players if he can - I think he'll keep Keane
- He doesn't generally go for expensive players - rather either basement bargains or mid range (20M)
- Don't think he will buy unless they are better or potentially better than the player we have - I think he might go for Lindstrom if we see him play other positions)
- He's not averse to using the loan market
- Don't sell your players unless you want to, ie not for cash reasons

That last point said, I could see a few folks moving on because their time is up or they think they can do better elsewhere (Virginia, young/Coleman, Harrison, Doucoure, Mangala, Broja)

- We need at least 10
- Probably
- No chance Keane stays
- We need lots of players, so I suspect this is correct
- Doubt Lindstrom is retained
- We will have lots of loans
- Branners and maybe Beto are the only outgoing sales I can see, personally
