2024/25 David Moyes

WUMMING on Moyes not being our future? No. Not one bit of it.

The feller had his advantages but he is way off being our optimum choice as manager.

The fact that some believe he is just underlines how shell-shocked the whole fanbase has been after the last few years.

Moyes is capitalising on that.

I do hope TFG have a big surprise for him in store in the summer...
Not a chance of that happening mate

We have one of the most successful managers in PL history and he’s our manager now. I say we’re lucky. I think for many they’ll never be able to get past he left the club for Manchester. It’s like he broke up with you and kicked your clothes to the lawn and you never had a girlfriend since, or the ones you have had (Dyche, Lampard) you don’t dare mention or brag about too much. The longer he’s our manager, the better our chances of making the very best and informed decision for his replacement increases.

If we just continue to splutter home or the rest of the season is that enough for Moyes to get the gig for the new stadium and era.
I keep mentioning this, but I think it's worth repeating: Moyes, who has done a really fine job, is currently on a run of one win in seven.

Given where we came from, this is perfectly fine right now. However, now that he has given us the luxury of safety, expectations will rise. As satisfied as we are right now, that was through the prism of terror. Now that the terror is no more, how the manager is judged will slowly change.

Either way, we need new players this summer. If Moyes stays on, he needs better to work with. What we have is simply inadequate.

He already has the gig mate.

Just think back to where we were 10 games ago. If you were told he would come in and double our points in that 10 games, being unbeaten in 9 and all but mathematically safe, with the same squad (with additional injuries to Ndiaye and Mangala) would you have snatched his hands off and been happy to have him as manager for next season?

Same players as previous manager, arguably worse squad available to him. People have very very short memories.

The truth is that’s the kind of move you would be condemning TFG about if it was anyone other than Moyes.

It screams rash and crazy and would show them to be unprofessional.

Definitely want and need him next season at BMD. I can’t wait to see what he can do with this squad being healthy plus whoever we pick up in the summer. That’s what I’ll evaluate him on.

Right now I can only evaluate him against Dyche. They managed the same club and in the first round of Mortal Kombat, Moyes has the victory and fatality. Let’s see what he does next season with new players and a deeper bench.

It’s 2 wins in last 7.

Anyone who suddenly has expections of winning loads when his attacking options have consisted of Harrison, Doucoure, Lindstrom and Beto who barely had a goal or assist between them prior to him arriving need to give their heads a wobble.

Yes he now has a few players back but that’s just in time for the difficult 5 games we wouldn’t expect to get much from (while still missing Ndiaye and McNeil though as our two most creative players).

Nobody knows if Moyes is the right or wrong appointment, only when it’s all said and done and he’s either succeeded or failed will we know.

But the assessment we can make so far is that he’s done an excellent job with a team that apparently Sean Dyche could take no further, and he did immediately whilst battling injuries something that I’m sure Sean Dyche wasn’t about to do.

The next question is can he progress us as a club and the answer to that should be yes I think he can. The man he is today isn’t the man he was the first time round, we are getting an experienced manager who understands the club. And weather you view the trophy West Ham won as tin pot or not, he did win it and I personally having watched that final would have loved that to be us. The experience of winning that can benefit us.

I for the first time in a long time am looking forward to the future.

All of this. 100%. This should be everyone’s feeling at least on some level. 💙
