2024/25 David Moyes

I keep mentioning this, but I think it's worth repeating: Moyes, who has done a really fine job, is currently on a run of one win in seven.

Given where we came from, this is perfectly fine right now. However, now that he has given us the luxury of safety, expectations will rise. As satisfied as we are right now, that was through the prism of terror. Now that the terror is no more, how the manager is judged will slowly change.

Either way, we need new players this summer. If Moyes stays on, he needs better to work with. What we have is simply inadequate.

Can we judge him when he has his best players available to him?

Nobody knows if Moyes is the right or wrong appointment, only when it’s all said and done and he’s either succeeded or failed will we know.

But the assessment we can make so far is that he’s done an excellent job with a team that apparently Sean Dyche could take no further, and he did immediately whilst battling injuries something that I’m sure Sean Dyche wasn’t about to do.

The next question is can he progress us as a club and the answer to that should be yes I think he can. The man he is today isn’t the man he was the first time round, we are getting an experienced manager who understands the club. And weather you view the trophy West Ham won as tin pot or not, he did win it and I personally having watched that final would have loved that to be us. The experience of winning that can benefit us.

I for the first time in a long time am looking forward to the future.
This !.
Well said , mate

We are going to be a PL team going into BMD. So I can comfortably say he was the right appointment.

When you look at it like that in the short term then yeah he was, the only caveat is when you look at the three teams at the bottom I actually don’t think we where going down, I know it’s easy to say that now but the teams that come up are dreadful.

That's 49 point pace over the season.

This is a good post.

Moyes has always been a good manager. We are getting the experienced old sage iteration, and I think that could stand to us. He's done a brilliant job to get us safe so quickly. Can he kick us on? I think he can - to a point. When we reach that point, it'll be up to him to prove his sceptics wrong. But he has earned that chance. The key now is to get him proper players. Too many of the current squad are not up to it. I hope to see this realisation borne out by our summer dealings. If it is, then Moyes has every chance of taking up top half next term.

I mean, staying up was the sole aim of this season. The long term goal for like the last 3/4 years has been ensuring PL status to move into BMD.

The bottom 3 are garbage yet we were only 1 point ahead of them prior to him coming in. We were in real danger and his sole target for this season will have been to ensure survival. He has more than achieved that, quickly and comfortably despite losing 2 key players and not spending any money in the transfer window.

For that alone, whether you think it’s only short term, it’s the right appointment because it has set us up for long term and means there’s a real finality to the previous 3/4 years of misery.

Couldn’t agree more, just not sure we were actually act risk of going down.

That being said I’m looking forward to the future under Moyes, last time I can remember us being competitive was under him.
