They have been allowed to spend it though, look at how much their starting XI today cost without any big sales I can really think of. Tonali and Isak alone were £60m+ signings. Bruno and Joelinton were £100m between them.

Newcastle becoming successful is not some gatecrashing of the top 6. They’ve just bought their way into it to make it a top 7. Them becoming successful just pulls the ladder further up for anyone else, it doesn’t help us.
People celebrating it as breaking the prem cartel are thick as mince.

Opinions seem divided about the significance of Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup for Everton FC.

Some seem nea in the game thread. Others seem concerned about the consequences on the behaviour of the Geordies towards Everton and Evertonians.

What's your view?
I`ve gone Yes but more because it`s the 1st trophy of the Saudi era, they`ll just get better from here on in and that means another team we are not likely to get the better off along with the usual scab 6.

Winning anything is near on impossible for us, just from a revenue point of view all of them teams have massive incomes more than double or triple ours or backed by Nation States.

Even if the Friedkins wanted to plow obscene amount of cash in to the club they will not be allowed, I think we are at least a decade away from actually winning a trophy, that`s if it goes well and this is Everton!

Commiserations on losing earlier, btw.

Can't stand the barcodes, and they will be even more insufferable than usual after this, but them winning was better than the alternative. Besides, they've joined the likes of Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and Swansea in winning this cup, the Champions League it ain't (I'd still like us to also join that list, obvs).

No not really worried they won their first trophy in years and don't count them as rivals because all we have been happy to do the last 3 years is avoid relegation. Will they kick on ? They will find it very hard unless their commercial deals go through the roof, PSR will prevent them buying in the type of players Chelsea and Man City brought in year on year until they were seen as " big clubs". I am more concerned to see were and if we can kick on, new stadium, extra Commercial income a raft of highly paid, in some cases over the hill players moving on, let's wait and see before we whine about Newcastle.
