World Snooker Championship

So, where's Alex fall on the rainbow?
Interestingly, there was a feature earlier this week at the snooker about Higgins, it was his birthday. Stephen Hendry made an interesting point that Higgins only scored 87 centuries in his 23 years playing, of course, there were far fewer tournaments then, but Hendry made the point that he was a great break builder, but never a heavy scorer, and would struggle in today's game.

His most number of centuries in a season - 11, the only time he made double figures.

Forerunner to Mark Williams, once the frame was won he'd switch off. He'd (Williams) be 30 times world champion if the game was one handed.

I really didn't enjoy last year's world championship - I maintain it was the worst one I have watched in 42 years. Why? The top players all seemed to abdicate at the same time and Kyren Wilson won what I felt was a very soft world title as a result. That's not a criticism of him - you can only beat what's in front of you, but I like my world champions - especially first-time world champions - to be tested. Kyren wasn't.

So, to see the way he has played this year, all I can say is colour me impressed. He has been a magnificent holder of the crown. What a season. I think he'll win a few more as only Trump appears to be as consistent, and Judd is half the player at the Crucible.

I expect Trump will beat the rejuventated John Higgins tonight. But it's been great to see Higgins return to form hot on the heels of Selby and Robertson doing likewise. All three are past their best, but they are all contenders due to their quality. Trump v Wilson strikes me as where the game is at right now. And that's a pretty enticing state of affairs, in my book. If they are in opposite halves, I expect to see them play the final in Sheffield.

mithered all day about the weight of the white ball. On their third white ball of the day.
now mithering about new cloth causing sliding.

Trump 5 - 7 Wilson

Could be all wrapped up early doors here.
