New Everton Stadium

I think yesterday demonstrated that there are loads of ways forward and room for progress with the right commercially minded people at the top - not charity workers pretending to be CEO.

However, the one slight niggle I had yesterday was that on a few occasions, I asked stewards inside the ground where to find something and the response was "I've no idea, I am as lost as you are".

To some extent, I understand its new and everybody will get better. However, you would think the club would have trained stewards on where things are because its an essential part of their job.

I've seen enough to know that with a proper decorative fit-out, both the concourses and the stadium itself will be absolutely magnificent.

The steel and wires aesthetic of the concourses has GOT to change. It's ugly, industrial, and looks unfinished. Maybe it is. It needs to be. It looks low-rent after coming inside having seen the splendour outdoors. As for the arena itself, nothing a bit of blue paint, blue livery, electronic adboards, decals, banners and flags cannot fix.

Wonderful.

Im curious what you were trying to find considering there were massive signs all over the place.

As I said yesterday, it doesnt feel like home yet, a few games in there, some Everton branding and it will look a lot different.
Yer every game will have a cup final feel for abit wont it untill it feels normal

Other teams will probably feel that aswell which is a bad thing dont most teams who move grounds seem to take a while to adjust

Guilia confirmed it’s a deliberate, staged fit out, presumably based on some sort of science. The key items and locations that people need to get themselves orientated with (bogs, food, sections and gates, emergency exits) go in first along with the signage for them. Then the “distractions” and cosmetics follow.

Makes sense i guess. Arguably the club should have done a gentle information video, disguised as a tour, dropping hints as to what cosmetic and branding updates were still outstanding. Would have stopped the Twitter masses from threatening to burn their (digital) season tickets because there is too much bare concrete visible.

The industrial interior might be “it” though. Bit cold. Few giant posters of Inchy will help a bit.
