Sandhills station

Whilst I am the first to acknowledge there were some challenges on the day, particularly around traffic congestion due to the half marathon that also took place on the same Sunday – and a trespasser on the Merseyrail network which temporarily disrupted rail services – there is no doubt this was a marked improvement on the first test event. This position is supported by the Club who have stated publicly that the second test event was a “resounding success”.
The purpose of these test events is to help us see what works, what doesn’t, and what needs improving. Over the coming weeks we’ll keep working with partners to see what we can do to further improve the matchday experience, and listen to fan feedback, so that we can prepare for the first league game of next season.
I want to assure you that all parties are fully committed to continuous improvement of the matchday travel experience to and from Bramley Moore.
These two test events have been crucial in refining the transport plan to date and we will continue to listen to the voices of fans to make further improvements and tweaks wherever possible.
Thank you for writing into me.
Best wishes

Steve Rotheram
Mayor of the Liverpool City Region
As I corrected @Tom Hughes in this thread - who made that very same claim - Colin Chong DID NOT state publicly the transportation on the day was a resounding success. Chong merely stated that the operations within the stadium were a 'resounding success', then stated there was work to be done on transportation.

I wonder if Chong is aware that Commander Steve is twisting his words and placing them out of context in his correspondence with the club's fans? 🤔

Yeah when the club says it was a resounding success, I take that as everything inside the wall.

Time will come when the games come in next season. When is games each couple of weeks and will be alot of social media pressure.

Make no mistake, there's a barely concealed contempt for Rotheram from EFC and from Rotheram toward EFC.

This will break into open criticism sooner rather than later.

Anyone who cant see the ill-will dripping from every sentence of that reply Rotheram gave to @degsy above need to look at it again.

There'll be all out war over this in the end: EFC v LCR. If Everton start on Rotheram's office in public I'd advise Commander Steve to find another job. Fast.

….you’d hope some local MPs would get involved.

I notice Lisa Nandy on the TV circuit this morning talking about the Bedford Theme Park investment, she said the Government were managing the infrastructure improvements, including new rail links and Luton Airport extension. Not sure if Westminster has been involved in our build.

He's got the leader of the opposition, Carl Cashman circling now.

I've been in several meetings with the club, including Colin Chong.... and this has reflected their stance regards transport throughout. The test events are at least as much about the transport as they are the stadium. "Resounding success" was the club's verdict. The only way you'll see if there is any conflict is if the club are included in the public debate. "Resounding success" suggests they see no issues (at least publically), or certainly don't want to face any contentious questions regards their transport plan or the transport group that they chair.

What's this, the ex builders union all looking out for one another.

If Colin Chong thinks transport is a success I'm afraid he needs to be part of the clean house the Americans are currently implementing.

Are you saying that you've been in meetings with Chong since the test events and he's said in those meetings that the club are happy with the transportation developments from test one to test two event?
