Everton Youth Teams Thread

Enjoyed that, not often you get a chance to relax for the last 15 mins of a derby game. Evans was clearly the man of the match , right from the start he was impressive. Apart from his well taken goals , one right foot the other left, his overall workrate has improved significantly, working hard , getting tackles in , laying off good passes . Throughout the whole 90 mins he seemed to be involved in our best moves. There was one bit when we were under pressure and Renshaw kicked the ball out he brought it down on his chest and set up another attack. It reminded of Rooney playing for the u18s , and Evans is nowhere near the class Rooney was then, when theyd clear it to Rooney the most reliable outlet.

Chris Renshaw impressed me in goal, he delt with just about everything competently, can catch and punch under pressure. Beni Baningime would have been pushing Evans hard for MoM . What a great engine he has , able to get up and down the pitch all 90 mins, break up attacks set up attacks and a great run to set up the fourth goal, having been put through by Evans. At the back Lees and Feeney looked very solid , while Lees has the build its Feeney who always impresses me he has the brains and is a true defender who at this age age cant rely on his physique so makes sure his positioning is spot on.
Bramall looked lively down the right and when he came on Duke-McKenna looked like a tricky winger. Lavery lead the line well had a couple of good runs and shots but I suspect he needs someone more physical alongside him to show his best. And to cap it all, a long awaited first sight , well for me, of Miko Virtanen , nice to see him appearing at this level.

All in all a very satisfying performance. That would appear to be our strongest starting 11 , can't think of anyone else who'd get in that team and good to get another win under their belts . This will give them confidence and allow some of the younger players like Hornby and Denny to get game time in a more established squad.

Everton have started pretty well, mampala has just missed back post sitter, over the bar on 21 mins, plus before that,we have had 2 brilliant crosses along the area that no one could reach to, for a tap in.
liverpool have there 1st chance, free header wide from a free kick out wide on 24

lol, lovely and bitter. Lush through ball and finish and he labels it as bad defending.

well done blues, decent result, really like benni. But then again, i really like cisco junior.

Nice write up. Are broadhead & Holland still eligible for this age group. I suppose they are two that would be pushing for places.

Very impressive that Evans & beni still both 17 drop down to that level and dominate a derby

No Broadhead, Holland, Brewster and others are now too old. Believe Evans was 18 yesterday, was beginning to think he hadn't kicked on given he was playing u21s this time last year , but looked good today.
