Seems like a decent choice if I'm being honest, I'm happy with it. It's not flashy, but that is a good thing for this club. We too often chase either the most prestigious option or the most trendy option when looking at players, coaches, and executives. And failing that we bring in someone associated with the club for no real reason. It has rarely worked out. I could't care less that Thelwell is coming from MLS in his most recent position, or that he has no history with Everton, or that most fans won't have heard of him.
His background is fairly impressive, especially because he's been both a first team coach and been in charge of all sporting aspects of a club. I doubt Moshiri will let him do his job properly, but I don't think having nobody in charge was a good option either.

I thought they’d been Mendes’ play thing since before their premier league days. Distinctly remember them getting a load of players who had no business going to a championship club because of him.
