I said a few weeks ago that I'd take 30m. He's done very little in two games and now we're getting 40m? Sign me up.

Don’t take this as a dig at you, what you just said there is pretty telling of what we are or what people think isn’t it.

It's years of mismanagement coming home to roost. Everton are no longer close to winning that 7th place trophy. There is a genuine danger of relegation this season. This transfer, if done correctly, could right a lopsided ship.

I get why people like him. He’s pretty much the only player we have with the energy and desire to simply drive by the opposition

I like him, I do. I didn't think he was going to be a player in this league at all a year ago.

To not take 40 million profit for our books and invest in some players with more end product and goals would be criminal.

Selling from a position of weakness in terms of squad depth in the attacking third and our financial situation, coupled with the very obvious upside the lad has is another indictment against the directors and ownership of this club.

You do a deal, only if, a) you're able to keep Gordon on loan until next season and b) you're picking up someone from Chelsea with an option to buy.

£40m nowhere near enough.

Chelsea just paid £60m for LB, will probably give Leicester £70m for CH.

City paid £100m for Grealish.

It's a similar fee to what that lot paid for Luis Diaz, similar fee to what Arsenal paid for Jesus and not far off what we got for Richarlison. It's a very fair fee.
