Chelsea have a long history of expensive flops, as do the other top clubs. If you rate him then you rate him mate but Chelsea splashing the cash on a player with the young and English premium doesn't mean diddly squat.

Well it does, it means a world class team want to pay a huge fee for him, so he is clearly very highly rated.
It really doesn't matter what I think. One of the most successful clubs in Europe over the last 20 years, with highly qualified experts want to pay a fortune for him. They see him as a world class player.

Don't know if this is true. Last bit on an article.

The young Evertonian is also a potentially risky investment. The winger is in the bottom third of all players in the top five leagues in attacking statistics including goals, xG, assists, shots and passes (including completion) per 90. The youngster has some clear potential, but investing too heavily in the player risks throwing a significant sum at a player that might not develop to Chelsea’s standards.

People need to realise its not the money or the stats that will do the damage, its the ripple effect.

This isn't 2004 the players simply will not come together they will down tools and get paid.

Selling Richarldison and Gordon then not replacing them will not inspire.

*utterly subjective, arbitrary, nonsensical stat invented by data jobsworths for data-loving sake proves point*

Well it's objective isn't it?
What's subjective is saying "he can't finish", which is objectively not backed up.

It's a bit like when people subjectively said "not worth 25m" or "not good enough for us", then a CL playing side, offers over 40m for him.

And they saw Danny Drinkwater as a world class player too mate. we should bite their hands off like Leicester did also.

This thread is just the best.

It`l like a virus that keeps on mutating.

By the end of the day, Chelsea will have offered 120mil.

We`ll counter this and offer a ten year contract of 500k a week wages.

Chelsea will come back in, match his wages, offer us six players and 120mil and even offer to finance the remainder of the new ground for us.
We would be foolish to not at least consider that.

Welcome to 2021.

It's not objective though. There are multiple data firms out there clubs use for such "expected"-type stats. One person's/firm's opinion of what constitutes a 'dribble' does not for the other, same with 'chance created' or 'goal involvements' etc etc. Sky happen to have picked the one they prefer hence why we see their stats on the TV. It's 100% arbitrary as there is no uniform consensus or argreement about what consistute what from one to the next.

"not worth £25m" or "not good enough" is also subjective as you say.

Which he has done, in pretty respectable numbers relative to the chances he has had created for himself.

Hence why a top team want to pay mega money for him. They obviously think he can finish, and the XG stts are quite reliable.
He scored 4 goals; I wouldn’t class that has respectable. And I’m sure 2 of them took massive deflections.

XG is a load of wank

Well he has shown himself to be a world class young player, hence why huge sums of money are being offered. People who know about can see this, have seen this and are not surprised it's played out this way.
Unfortunately there's a layer of people who haven't seen it. That's fair enough, but they have been proven wholly wrong as a result of this saga.
