I see pro's and con's when I look at the possibility of us signing Michael James Owen.
The pro's are he scores goals and he always will do, there's no disputing that.
The con's are the wages and his injuries. We all know about his injuries and I don't fancy paying big wages to someone who isn't as good as (in my OPINION) Saha and Yakubu. If he was a star then fair enough but that's no how I rate Michael James Owen.
The last con is our system, I don't think he has the skillset or physique to play the lone striker role in a 4-5-1/4-4-1-1. I think we'd have trouble fitting him into that and I honestly believe we'll use it for the majority of the season, maybe all of it.
But, to be honest, as has been said, the more options the better.
In other words, if he was willing to drop his wages I'd have no problem with the signing. He's a gamble (injuries) but he's definitely capable of scoring goals and on a free it's worth a gamble.
