Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Offering daft wages is the only reason any player wants to sign for us
True, but thats been one of our biggest issues and imo we should avoid repeating this.

Thats why we should be shopping outside the PL because most other countries dont pay anywhere near PL salaries.
If you got a player from Real Soceidad or Frankfurt for example, they might be on 30-40K a week for the same quality of player in the PL they wont be far off 100k a week.

Forget the PL experience, its a load of nonesense, if your good enough you will succeed.

I sort of agree, but if Beto gets an injury in training, you can pretty much write off the next 4 league games and we could be back in the relegation pack (unlikely we'd drop into the bottom 3, but we could conceivably be only 3 points clear rather than 9)

Definitely wouldn't write off the next 4 - ok yes, them lot are rampant and that would be a tough game - but credit to Moyes, we're still really tight at the back. Even if we were blunter going forward having to put N'Diaye up top, I can still see us being tough to beat.

EDIT: Forgot to say Alcaraz can supposedly play there too and did so for Southampton once or twice!

Moreover, the gap closing relies on Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton actually starting to win games - go and take a look at their fixtures over the next 4 I guarantee you'll be less worried

Now as in "February 2025" is hard to say; the most up to date financials we have are as at March 2023. At that point, it had actually gone up to 92%. Only Leicester and Forest were worse - no surprise that those were the three clubs that had problems with the finance regulations. But since then, we've shed a lot of our high earners like Iwobi, Mina, Godfrey, Dele, Gomes, Allan, Tosun.

We've also probably improved our turnover at the other end signing various commercial deals. Then going into summer we'll shed lots of other big wages like Holgate and Keane. So the position has definitely got better.

Chermiti back in 3/4 weeks means you just have to muddle through 4 league games with Beto (Liverpool, Palace away, United at home, Brentford away). N'diaye can also play there if we are utterly desperate. Then 3/4 weeks after that you're looking at DCL/Broja being close to a return. I personally think there are other areas to prioritise
Completely agree.

The aim for this season was always just to survive in the prem to be there when the new stadium opens, then we start to consolidate our financial position and gradually invest in the squad. Looks like we're on track to do that.

No point in spunking money now unless we believe we're getting long-term value. Adding another striker when we have a load on the books (including Maupay!) doesn't make any sense.

I imagine the new owners have good contacts invthe Americas. Hence The Birdman from Alcatraz….

Of that 13

Doucoure & Gana probably sign new contracts
Broja & Harrison return to there parent clubs, barely used
Lindstrom has an option to buy
Young & Coleman might want to do an extra year
2 are goalkeepers (could re sign)

I'd imagine Keane & Calvert Lewin & possibly Virginia are the only ones we need to replace
yeh, but apart from that

Everton are reportedly in negotiations with Aberdeen over a potential move for Turkish midfielder Yerdäs Selzavön, with sources indicating that discussions are at an advanced stage. The 28-year-old playmaker, who has been a standout performer in the Scottish Premiership this season, is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Selzavön, who joined Aberdeen from Turkish side Sivasspor in 2022, has been one of the Dons’ most consistent performers, impressing with his vision, technical ability, and set-piece prowess. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with new Everton manager David Moyes eager to bolster his midfield options as the Toffees look to climb away from the relegation battle.

According to reports, Everton have tabled an initial bid in the region of £5 million, with Aberdeen holding out for a fee closer to £7 million. The Turkish international, who has earned 14 caps for his country, is said to be open to the move, viewing the Premier League as the next logical step in his career.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has remained tight-lipped on the speculation but admitted the club would not stand in the way of a player if the right offer comes in.
