Season Ticket Waitlist

I'm quite confident the 40p I paid to watch my first game in 1973 (at home to Arsenal) was a lot cheaper than £60 is now. The marketing of the game now is incredible, especially given the garbage thats served up.
I bet that day back in 1973 we weren`t paying upwards of 100k a week to some of the players. Football has got more expensive to watch even as the clubs can take in huge sums of money from tv and advertising because they throw money at players to get them to sign for them.

Siting down on a seast is an excuse buit the whole Spion Kop at the pit are allowed to stand the whole game, & they created seats after Heysel etc - standing areas in a computerised system should be fetched back at lower admission fees ..... just in areas behind the goals etc .....

Its basic maths.

A bigger stadium would create more match day revenue, thats not even up for debate.

Currently, demand is at an all-time high, will that demand go up, with a successful Everton? Or go down, in time, as the price increases and interest wains?

We find out in the future.

But for whatever reason, justified or not, the Stadium will open at 52k.

The waiting lists came out of the limited supply and the relatively low ST prices at GP, and importantly the increased demand that came out of the clamour to secure a season ticket at the shiny new stadium. They only appeared a few years ago. Those ticket prices have been going up steadily in recent times, so it's difficult to tell how many on that list will actually take up the offer of a season ticket at those higher new prices..... but no-one appears to be talking of being on 30k waiting lists now, despite the fact that only a few people have come off the list, after being allocated ST at BMD.

Stack'em high and sell'em cheap only really works if your getting a freeby stadium or at least a much cheaper redeveloped stadium. Stadium construction costs grow exponentially with capacity. So adding say 15-20% to get to over 60k can easily increase that cost by 30-50%..... so you have to be careful where you pitch your desired capacity. Basic supply and demand also dictates ticket prices. The more supply, the less you can charge to fill it, unless demand is significantly higher. West Ham had to reduce their ticket prices dramatically when they moved into the London Stadium. They almost doubled their capacity, but their matchday income barely moved. That's ok if you got the stadium for nothing and at a token rent..... but if you've just spent £15k per seat in construction costs, with massive interest rates on loans, you will never recoup that outlay..... so in essence, your ideal capacity envelope starts to get really squeezed. If we really wanted to go for a bigger capacity, then redevelopment would have probably been the easier option. It would have also allowed a phased approach to measure that real demand as we went along.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. As magnificent as our new home on the royal blue Mersey truly is and as close as conducive as its design is to a great atmosphere.... the capacity shows a lack of ambition. I'm old, so I've been inside Goodison when the attendance has been over 65,000.

But one thing I will say is: BMD is closer to 53k than 52k.

Back when we were getting those sort of crowds the cost of going to the game was a lot less than it is now. It`ll be full next season whether we improve on the field or not, but if our form were to go backwards again, which it has done after an initial boost in form from a new manager, will we continue to see a packed stadium or will we see a lot of empty seats as people stay home rather than watching more decline?

Got my stone (I hope), so will be there in spirit, if not in person ;)
Think the answer is, it depends on the resale platform and if they strip it down and start a new one before the season starts. I'm sure there's plenty on the waiting list that will come in, if it's not too difficult to purchase a ticket

Without having to read the whole thread, what is the current size of the waiting list? Is there anyone on here with a waiting list number of over 20k or even 15k.
