No one has done it on this level before.

Takes spends to 150m, plus wages, 16 players.

Think Fulham had a crack at it a couple of years back, arguably Villa since they came back up.

But all the deals will be amortised, so for the books the cost will be spread over the length of the contracts.

They are backing themselves also to sell those signings if they go down - but they are really backing themselves to stay up.

Their owner seems a bit like our, happy enough to write off losses, so cashflow wont be an issue

It's frustrating that we seem to be the only club that has to tip toe around FFP.

We aren't. I believe Leicester are struggling as well. As are supposedly newcastle to an extent. Aren't Leeds struggling as well but made 2 big sales to get round it while we only made 1.

Villa will be where we are in 1-2 years.

Is that not their Championship income though, they made an operating loss of £20 odd million - but that was largely due to Covid and their owner wrote it off.

Essentially Profit and sustainability isnt about what you spend - its about what you lose - so incoming revenue has to match expenditure +35 mill - because their income has jumped hugely they can increase costs a fair bit.

Its like we earn £180 mill a year - if that jumped by 5 times to 900 mill - we would be in the same position as Forrest, their income has essentially jumped by 5 times conservatively.

Fear of going down in the main, you are tied into those contracts and have to revert back to Championship income via 40 mill a season for two seasons in parachute payments - some do though.

They are operating of a Championship budget so have huge scope to increase costs - essentially they make an extra 90 mill at least just by being into the PL - even if they are relegated they are guaranteed another 80 million in parachute payments over two seasons, its a huge shot in the arm, while you can also loose 35 mill a year and stay within profit and sustainability.

How come Norwich never done the same ?
