Today is a great opportunity to push on. It's on a plate. I can't believe there's actually a chance we're going to balls this up.

Can't see us getting a goal in this let alone two.

    Everton v Arsenal. 23rd Aug at 17.30.

I really don't think it was fitness. I think it was thinking we could spend the whole 2nd half sitting back and defending a two goal lead against Arsenal. All it takes is one goal and the opposition are back in it. A questionable plan against any team. But Arsenal?

Looks horrific. He's a massive loss. How depressing.

    Leighton Baines

That's true but the whole thing with utd, post ferguson, is the need to strengthen their squad. Signing Leighton Baines would be a big deal in that regard.

Disagree. I think utd fans and club would have been very happy. Fellaini, as good as he is, was widely understood as a desperation signing whereas Baines makes total sense.

    Everton v Sunderland. Boxing Day @ 15.00.

Even with 10 men we should be doing better than this. They're such a poor team. There seems to be a lack of ideas from us going forward.

    Comparisons to 2004-5

I remember a lot of the games that season were really dull affairs. Results were grinded out- not many goals if I remember. So far, this season, the relaxed pleasure (most of the time) of actually watching and not worrying unduly if we go behind, is a new and wonderful thing.

The Journos getting worried about Everton challenging the Top 4 Thread

There are two types of journalist who cover football. There's the type who is informed, objective and seems to have a genuine love of the game. You might ferociously disagree with them often but you know their heart is in the right place. Then there's the other type who thinks football started...

"Everton can win the Premier League"

But that's Rodgers' problem isn't it? If anything happens to Suarez, they become a spurs level team at best. Their next best player is their goalie.

"Everton can win the Premier League"

It was interesting watching MOTD and hearing Thierri Henry saying Everton were the best team arsenal had played all season. Things like this keep coming up and you think god this season really is different, we're on a whole other level. For me top four is totally possible, almost expected, but...
