"Everton have rejected a bid of up to £8m from Norwich City for Steven Naismith." Probably very little up-front, the rest linked to appearances, goals, international success etc... that is very different to £7-8M in one payment and probably not worth it at this late stage.

I really don't get why it apparently seems to take us so much longer to finalise deals than other clubs... in this case 2 deals. They always quote "paperwork" and allude to it being someone else's problem. Does that mean we should forget any other deals now then, because if we haven't started...

They didn't have a problem signing Demba Ba when we pulled out for exactly the same reason... and look what happened there. Perhaps we should turn the tables this time.

Never heard of him personally, but highly rated according to this Daily Fail article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3002502/Manchester-City-Academy-star-Marcos-Rony-Lopes-carving-Ligue-1-Lille-wants-push-sky-blue-shirt.html

We know one is Leicester, the other sure to be West Ham. David Gold has been very public about needing another striker and there are suggestions Austin wants to stay in London. If that is the case, West Ham will take it to deadline day to get the price down as far as possible. Can't see him...

See there was some Twitter jarg last night linking us with Roman Eremenko again... The Finnish Xavi as he's known. Seems to have been a journeyman of Russian football the last few years but could see him being the kind of player RM might be considering as the elusive No. 10

And they were most likely Ogboona (left-sided CB) and Payet (No. 10) and they went to West Ham - a club in London with just about equal financials at the present time but with a move to a major new stadium a season away. I am not sure whether it is naivety (as in their agents suggested at that...

Long gone are the days when clubs dictate, players end up where they (and their agents) want to.

What an odd summer, so many of our alleged targets seem to have ended up having to choose between us and A.N.OTHER, and (Del and Clev apart) have gone elsewhere.

Clearly a player with quality, but attitude seems to be his problem, hence being bombed out of both Bayern and Inter in quick succession. Big gamble for Stoke if they do sign him for that much knowing he doesn't really want to play for them.

Tough one that... Nolito for me just ahead of Yarmolenko.

At the right price I wouldn't be too concerned, provides much better cover down the right side than we currently have, especially for Coleman as an attacking right back (rather than Hibbert!). If it is the £8M touted though, forget it.

I think Rom offers a greater overall contribution as well as having better stats. Take when he destroyed the Gooners from an inside right position - you don't see Benteke in those kind of positions or making those kind of runs. Didn't his own international manager describe him as a...

Probably for him not to be partially owned by a third party. Not much point loaning a player that the Premier League wont allow to play, and probably too expensive to buy him outright.

Doesn't sound too hopeful does he! It could be that all those he wanted (other than Clev and Del) have gone elsewhere (like Ogbonna) or are simply not available at a price we can afford. I would love to see a couple of big names like most fans, but would rather we brought through youngsters...

I wouldn't get so wound up about it mate. He wanted to live in London and basically said we were top class with him - don't often hear that when someone has gone elsewhere. I'd be more worried if I was a West Ham fan listening to that - he's taken 2nd best because of where they are in the...
