£20 m. for AJ

Exactly, every player has a price!! Not saying that we have to sell him and the story is even true, but if it was it is worth considering!! Especially if he is getting hassel from his mrs to go back to London!

Ehmm that would be an interesting spectacle.:P

GoD are you saying that EFC should turn down any offer for any player from any club no matter what that offer is? Every player at every club has a price to the right bidder, to say it would turn us into a selling club is way over the top. TBH £20mil for AJ is about £5 mil above his market value and if by any chance it was true would have to be considered.

Rodders, you may not care about his wife and family but he will, that said I do believe that the whole story is crap.

Well think of it like this, is Bent or Nugent better than AJ?

Liverpool made the mistake of letting their best striker go. Man U lost Van Nistelrooy without replacing him and that's why they never won the treble, and they only won the Premiership cos they were incredibly lucky with injuries.

By selling our best players, we are a selling club - not a club going forward.

It is clearly a question of how highly one rates AJ as a striker, and I don't. Apart from his start to the season the remainder was poor. His place in the side certainly inspires others but the same can be said of Tim Cahill. By the way, based on our accounts can we afford to turn down stupid money because I do believe we could improve without AJ. At the end of the day it matters what DM thinks, if the story is true and if he sells he'll have my support, what about you?

His missus doesn't come into the equation when we are thinking of a club of this size. Christ many people have to live in a place that is strange - but cmon? most of the players live in Cheshire and posh places too. Infact many Southerners live up here anyway.

Its only 3-4 hours away not like another country.

If the club sell AJ because of his moaning wife then its a [Poor language removed] joke. This player is under contract, he has said he wants to stay at Everton. End of [Poor language removed] discussion.

Stupid money is £40 million, not £20 million.

Sorry but that was not the question, irrespective of his wife, his milkman or the woman at 33, if DM opts to sell because of the stupid bid made would you support him, I would.

Well I answered that question but not with this quote.

Anyway, We sold Rooney for £20million flat. So to sell AJ for the same price 3/4 years later is not stupid money.

And I would not support the manager whenever he decides to sell our best players. Sounds like some people here feel its the right move. Well I don't.

Like Monty, I havn't been overly impressed by AJ this season. 13 goals isn't bad but it's hardly world class so if someone wanted to blow £20 million on him then be my guest becaue there's no way he's worth that much. Beattie got 10 the season before last and he's the worst striker we've ever had (according to some) and we'll be paying clubs to take him off our hands.

Sure he hasn't had penalties to bolster his tally but he's not the messiah. If he gets up around the 20 mark next season then I'll be more than happy but for £20 million you could buy an Eto'o.

Could you buy an Eto'o for 20 million? and could we afford his wages? No we couldn't.

Amazing that fans would rather see Lee Carlsey play then AJ.

I do because to go forward you need money and £20 mil for a player that is not a regular scorer is good business, that is what EFC is these days like other clubs, a business profit driven and like any club we need cash.

I would support DM all the way, the only problem is the story in the first place is a bag of [Poor language removed] any way.

Not a regular scorer? Christ he hasn't done badly - [Poor language removed] hell.

What do we want 60 goals a season!!

Only 1 player got into the 20's and that was Drogba, and only 4 got over 15. He scored 11, the same as Anelka!

Money grabbers!

I'm done with this ridiculous post before I get too annoyed.

That's the sort of player you'd be getting for that kind of money though Ghost, a proven international goal scorer. I bet Michael Owen wouldn't go for that much money. Obefemi Martins went for half that last year. Van Nistelroy wouldn't fetch £20 million. I'm not sure even someone like Berbatov would go for that much. It really is silly money, which is why I'm inclined to think that the story is utter tripe.

AJ is a decent Premier League striker. As yet he hasn't made the step up to international class striker, in much the same way that Darren Bent hasn't. Hopefully our exposure to European will help him to progress into that 20 a season striker we all want him to be.

Dude dont get so wound up all the time! Forget his wife but FAMILy life come into the equation, its all hear say anyway. I agree with you about the selling thing.

According to latest rumours in today's paper Curbishley has put Bent top of his shopping list ahead of AJ and Bellamy. Panic over. ;)

what a thread.

Lets us first consider families. unsworths wife wasnt happy and made her husband come back to merseyside. carsley has regularly stated its sometimes difficult with his family in the midlands. vdm has on occasion pointed out that it has been difficult to settle with his family still in italy.

i'd be interested to know the source of the rumour about AJ's wife, being fair they havnt been in the northwest/merseyside/cheshire for 12 months yet.

ok, now lets tackle selling. we sold kilbane, we sold davies, we let weir go and had to accept a token sum for the deal to actually be legal, we sold gravesen, we sold bent, we sold kroldrup. All clubs sell, all clubs buy, i dont reckon west ham are in for AJ for 20million, there are a couple of spanish lads that are currently hot property that could be signed for that region of fee, and it appears west ham have the resources to compete with wage demands also (david villa, and another lad)

would selling AJ be a sign of lack of ambition? i suppose it depends on the fee and who was brought in to replace him, part of the moyes side has been how a player fits in with the side, he doesnt buy individuals, rather - pieces of a side that work well together. for this reason i have heard sighs of relief that barton wasnt brought in, me personally i wouldnt like jermaine defoe anywhere near goodison because of his attitude.

finally, in the pompey game moyes raised AJ's arm to the gwladys as a tribute to all he had done this season, score the goals, play on through referee and press persecution, play on through injury, and never once complain. lets also remember that AJ has had to play with not the best midfield providing chances for him, with a solid left footer to balance the side, our attacks wouldnt be so lop sided and allow the opposition to simply stifle arteta. we will get more from AJ when we address the balance of midfield.
