Whats that mate?

dmoz.org is a Yahoo of sorts except hand edited and verified by real people. A big driver for Google spiders. I just submit the URL, name and a brief description and after is is verified it will get in the directory.

I work in IT these days and do a lot of web work on the side and have a fair bit of experience at improving sites search results.

Set up a feed burner page then put a 'subscribe' link on the home page to it. It will have a ton of badges to make it easy for people to add the feed to most anything.

Register the feed with rssfeeds.com (I'll track down more)

Make a iGoogle widget of your feed and share it out.

Do you guys have the CaRP plugin running? Use it to add that custom Google news search I set up to the home page to add some more dynamic content (sans TW) which is not only great for the forum users but the viral linking to respected sites boost you in searches as well.

I'll get my blog set up for the podcast soon and run your feed as well and have a blog entry covering the site. In the end it'll take a few months but the spiders and bots will start piecing it together and we'll drive more traffic.

How do i get all them badges so people can easily subscribe?

Put a 'Subscribe' link on the home page and have it point to the Feedburner page. Or you can use the HTML code from their Chicklet Chooser.

Let me go through one of my feedburner pages and review what needs to be set on the page itself to make it HTML friendly plus some other goodies.

Looks like you got Browser Friendly set and SmartFeed. Be sure and fill out Feed Image and Title/Description burners. I'd change the link to the home page in lieu of the forums too.

Enable Email Subscription and PingShot in the Publicize tab and turn on Ping-o-matic and newsgator plus add Google Blog Search ping service from the drop down. PingShot is a big deal as it really spreads the word that the site exist.

You now have the option to make the feed available to partners via HTML (BuzzBoost) or JS with Headline animator where you can create several different sizes and styles.

Here is a whole Everton tab of Web 2.0 goodness you can add to a custom google home page.
