I had loads of sloes left over last year so put some in with the blackberries. I can't remember how much sugar I used, probably less than the recipe says, as you don't want it too sweet unless you're aiming for a liqueur. You can always add more sugar, as you taste every month or so


This is what I use for sloe gin, but the damson gin is also fantastic.


You can flavour spirits with virtually anything that takes your fancy. Also you can add herbs/spices - I've used cinnamon sticks (not really impressed, and nutmegs, which were not bad at all.

Keep tasting, that's my advice. If you want to try something simple, this is easy to do and tastes delicious. Loads of recipes out there with variations.
