Here's the engine bay

We zoom in to the top left corner.
Could this be the problem?
Certainly won't help!

That looks like a wire that's let some of its smoke out!
Gets hot after several minutes, the remaining insulation becomes pliant and allows a short to ground. Wrap some tape around it short term, to keep the smoke in and see if the engine runs longer.

tbh it could've been my fault, I snipped 4 or 5 cable ties to get access to other stuff 😱

I've got a 10 year old mondeo Titanium, econetic diesel, leather seats, sat nav, parking sensors, heated seats and best of all no road tax.
Had it 6 years no problems bar usual wear and tear.
I put it on webuyanycar last year for curiosity and was offered £7000
I put it up again yesterday and they offered £8305 😲
Its low mileage but even so

On top of my other car problems, if they weren't enough, my 24 yr old Alternator on the Landrover finally packed in.
I more or less know what type it is, but as it's deep in the bowels of the beast I can't get a good visual on it.
So I emailed my local Landrover Dealer with my Vin Number, apparently the last 6 numbers allow them to give you chapter and verse on the correct part number.

This is what I got back...

Thats what I thought when I had to replace the V8 alternator as part of the rebuild.
But after much googling and ringing round I couldn't find anybody to touch it, didn't want to know, no money In it for them I suppose.
One or two offered to supply and fit a new one for me - at an eye watering price though.

But they couldn't fit me in for 9 weeks.
I've ordered the 'cheap' german one...$425 Vs $785 and I've found a guy in a little unit who works for fixed price cash as it's 'problematic' if working in the street in the rainy season, sod that for a game of soldiers.

I have a TVR here I've recently recommissioned, running the Rover V8 in 4.0l form.
All of my parts came from John Craddock ltd, a landrover speciallist parts supplier here in the UK.
All original stuff and at the best prices I could find. Great service and one you could try if you haven't already 👍

Need to get tyres for my BMW X3. As the car does not have a spare tyre, because the designers couldn't fit one in a car that size, I have to buy run-flats at nearly £250 a corner.

My wifes car, a Ford Galaxy, also has no spare tyre for the same design issues. She has a plugin compressor and bottle of sealant so she doesn't need run flat tyres.

I'm thinking I need to get a compressor and cheaper tyres.
