The 147 whether you are a pro or a novice is tougher than the 9.

Participation levels how many of us have actually played snooker compared to darts? most would have only played pool.

Even if your technique is poor, the probability of chucking a 9 darter is far higher than fluking a 147.

If this question was 30+ years ago it would have been the 9 all day long. But with the evolution of the darts and the board wires being slimer. Making it easier to hit 180's then it allows heavy scorers to regularly threaten the 9.

Then you have to consider other factors. There is only two reasons why you can't hit a 9, either you don't hit a perfect dart or your opponent throws first and hits a 9.

Whereas in Snooker your opponent has to not pot a ball and plays a shot at the beginning of the frame that does allow you to start on a red and black combo, while you have stay on that combo until you have the frame won, as every player would give up on any attempt if they lose position before the frame is won and wouldn't force it in matchplay.

In making any clearance never mind a 147 you have to also go into the balls at least once if not multiple times and that requires some luck, and even if it doesn't ruin the 147 outright you may have to play perfect positional shots to keep the 147 going.

Of all achievements in sport I'd say a century is toughest as a complete novice. Given no no11 has ever hit a century in international cricket.

Soz for the long post.

147, and don't bring a hole in one into this as as I have some truly awful players after an awful shot get one in person. You can't fluke a 147 or 9 darter

147 by a mile

9 Darts is just accuracy
147 is accuracy, spin, position, obstacles of other balls on the table, they are at least 2-3 shots ahead in position of the actual shot they’re playing.

There have been 523 '9 Darters' in PDC (WDC) history since 1996.
Since 1982 there have been 208 maximum breaks in snooker.
9 darters are far more common although there are many more games of darts played.
In conclusion I think a 9 darter would be easier,

The other player rarely has any say in your 9 darter. He can't affect your board. The gymnastics snooker players have to perform to work difficult positions or tied up (ahem) balls is occasionally genius. We're in a high point of snooker talent (although aging maybe) yet the quickest century is still Drago from 30 years ago.
9 darters turn up more regular. There is no 'run of the arrows'. Get more flukes in snooker as well.
The other player won't have much say in your 147, either. They won't be at the table during it. Only thing that might matter is something they did before you commenced on the 147 break.

How many more legs of darts is that though compared to how many frames of snooker. They did something like this when the darts was on with pros and the 147 was done first before a 9 darter and a hole in one. Granted I think the hole one is the easiest.
