Davie Moyes… best Everton manager since HK mk1

David Moyes did a very good job for us, but the best Everton manager since Howard Kendall mark one is Joe Royle.

Moyes was the last manager who left solid foundations in place, for his successor to build on though.

We've gone from one managerial disaster to another after Moyes. Both Koeman and Benitez did serious damage to the club.

Ancelotti could have been a good one, but he did a runner on us sadly! In hindsight Allardyce did a reasonable enough job i think.

David Moyes joined the club. We were in a similar state - staring squarely at relegation with an awful squad of overpaid big names.

Biggest mistake since was not bringing him back.

Thoughts..?

In hindsight it looks like a mistake not to, but at the time it was the right choice not to...
He would've been under a different kind of pressure to win everyone over again because Everton fans don't half hold a grudge, lets be honest. He might not have done as well as he is doing with WH

Royle saved us from relegation and win us a trophy. Didn’t really do much after that though.

Whatever the reasons it didn’t work out.

Moysie worked miracles for a long time and bought some super players for next to nothing.

He finished 6th the season after. We were playing some decent stuff pre christmas 1996, before the wheels fell off.

Would take the best Moyes teams to beat Joe’s 8 out of 10 times though.

Joe's teams had the winning mentality though! He never lost to the rs either. Moyes could have taken us to the next level with investment. That badly needed investment sadly was not forthcoming!
