Never got into college 'ball, but love my NFL. Maybe the NCAA is to blame, maybe it the lack of proper playoffs, maybe it's because I ain't a merkin. I've did try watching a few games, but the flow of the game just didn't grab me. What am I missing?

By and large, it's a much better product. Pick a few teams to follow and watch their games, that's the way to get into it.

If Les has Lesticles, does Moyes have Moisticles?

Had to ask... can you ever imagine Moyes going for it on fourth and seven? With the lead?

For me, every time I see Mourinho, I think of Spurrier. He's another "special one".

I was thinking more along the lines of diehard devotion to questionable tactics, especially in the face of evidence to the contrary.

Spurrier = Mourinho, that's a good comparison.

The atmosphere is a lot better than the NFL. The bands, student sections and traditions are what make college football awesome.

I'm convinced you should watch LSU for a season. Great home crowd, coach is a bit mad, you never know who's going to win, and they have an Aussie punter.

I've been to New Orleans, so that's a tenuous link for me there. I'll keep an eye out for their games.

The Independence Bowl has a new sponsor this year. Get in you redneck beauts! Best sponsor since it was the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl.

LOL. Wish we could move to a full out playoff system and lose the bowl games. It's gotten ridiculous.

The Independence Bowl has a long and storied history of mediocre teams fighting for nothing in a City in which their fans couldn't care enough to travel to, it's not some Johnny-come-lately Beef O'Brady or Little Ceasar's Bowl.

*Just found out that the St Pete bowl is no longer the Beef O'Brady St Petersburg Bowl, it's now the bitcoin St Petersburg Bowl. A little part of me has died.

Are you in Shreveport?

Independence and Liberty Bowls where the lowly of the SEC go for a money grab

Ironic that Independence and Liberty mark some of the more lowly bowls.

Back on your prior comments, my opinion (since you asked, of course), is that the bowls and playoffs be merged. The early, lower-ranked bowls are fun because they're insignificant. The other bowls are great because they're meaningful.

A 12-team playoff to the seeded teams (throw in conference champions, etc) would be great, but we still need the lesser bowls. You could even have a two-tier playoff system with 12 top teams vying for the championship and 16 lesser teams (give every conference at least one berth), and the winner of the second tier playoff gets a guaranteed spot in next year's top playoff.

There is some element of fun to the bowls, and while they're terribly inefficient at producing champions, they won't go away (because of money) and shouldn't go away (because they can be useful)*.

*Some of them should go away, but not all of them.

I know they are here to stay. Way too much money involved.

I can see the fun for the players (and all the swag they get) in the lesser bowls, but 6-6 teams going to post season??? Ends up being a legal way to squeeze in an extra month of practice.

*I say that knowing Arkansas was once on of those 6-6 teams.
