Interesting that - back in the 80s when that kit came out I had the impression (pre-internet days and living down south) that it wasn't popular among the fans.

And the bib went light blue half way through the season!

All I can assume from this is that 12+ months, since the last kit, isn't long enough for several months of work - and they mustn't have realised that one season follows the last.

Would be if they had already manufactured the kits, they’d have to start the whole production again and probably have to find time to do so in between producing all of the kits for other teams.

You're correct. Although I had it as a kid. Chelsea essentially had the same kit all blue. I remember thinking that's what ours should have been. The detail was better them days.
