2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

The fact is all teams sign players.

The fact is, Everton have had to make profits in every window for 4+ years now and had to sign players who cost £0 upfront.

But the biggest fact is;

Park any agenda.

Everton have to spend, and any fan contesting that reality is wrong.
This should be enough for anyone to see what’s already in front of them.

A really, really bad team.

With an even worse manager.

It's 100% this, also you can see wolves struggling since they've had to stop spending

If you have no money and you spend about half your available funds on a centre half who doesn’t get a sniff it feels worthy of both comment and criticism.

I can only think O'Brien is the long term Branthwaite replacement and they've given him a year to bed in but would be good to actually see him play eventually.

Newcastle last year signed Lewis Hall but he barely figured for six months. Flying now.

The director of football and the manager have had their hands tied behind their back and operating at a real disadvantage but they’ve spent money , whether they’ve used money from sales they’ve made signings that cost money . We brought in a £12m fullback , £15 for Ndiaye, £25m for Beto and O’Brien who it looks like I’ve more chance of getting a Game than at what £16m .

I know Patterson wasn’t dyche but players there have Cost a few bob so saying we haven’t spent money feels a bit like net spend fc across the park . Again for clarity I think those building the squad have been severely restricted but the deals haven’t been the best .

The Director of Football has made a profit in every window he's been here.

You mention Beto and O'Brien, Beto was signed 2 days before the window closed when we hadn't scored a goal 3/4 games into the season because he was available for £0 upfront. How many strikers can you sign for literally, £0 upfront to defer a payment for a year? We couldn't spend. He wouldn't be here otherwise. O'Brien was signed due to ownership/Textor shenanigans. The circus of Everton football club.

You take a recent line up, like the below for the last home game and count what they cost and generally the opposition have 1 player alone that costs more than every outfield player we have.

Pickford
Young
Tarkowski
Branthwaite
Mykolenko
Harrison
Mangala
Gueye
Doucoure
NDiaye
Broja

People say we're circling the drain, it won't stop until we recruit and recruit well.

what if we fall down the drain?

with how many players out of contract

even harder to sort in the
championship

No real harm done this weekend. If Wolves get beat tomorrow then we can tick this round of matches off as a relative success - one more round of matches where we're showing daylight between us and the drop zone.

We just need the spivs to start helping out now by buying us a forward and FB as a bare minimum.

Glad that we played Ipswich when we did though - given we beat them at their ground, I'd fancy on current form them to turn us over.

Difference between being a point ahead or five behind ...

….Godfrey will help them improve defensively, they’re well organised, have goalscorers and a bit of creativity in the top third. They also look committed to the cause, which could be a telling factor with most of our first team players not even contracted to be here next season.

I think much depends on who we bring in, including on the Manager front. Another right winger even if it’s an admission of failure and a waste of two loan signings (Harrison and Lindstrom) and a LB seem minimum requirement. Just hope we get lucky on acquisitions because I wouldn’t trust the judgement of those involved in the process.

We’re a right mess with zero wiggle room to take our time to sort it.
