2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Ipswich got Southampton at home next weekend so if they win that it will pile pressure on Wolves so not over for them yet although Godfrey was a poor use of their resources to get in an experienced defender.

Agrred. I live in Ipswich. They have been right to back McKenna after what he has achieved the past two seasons, and he has tried to stay loyal to some of those who have won them back-to-back promotions, but the transfer policy to add to them has been poor. Muric was a terrible signing in goal and they have no decent backup. They went for loads of Championship players who were good last year but have been found out at this level - Szmodics, Greaves, Clarke, Ogbene, now Philogene etc... They are far too lightwieght and what they needed most was an experienced head or two at the back and in midfield (Philips a risk that hasn't worked) but it is just not McKenna's style.

forgot we play leicester next week as well

win that and surely we don't get relegated
Looking like it, two weeks in the row, results have gone our way. Leicester play Spurs tomorrow, not sure how I feel about it. Only a point behind them now.

Think if we win next week we'll be in a position to tick along for the rest of the season.

It was clear he had to go after the capitulation to Bournemouth. We did the same thing the following week against Villa for the slow learners.

Dyche did a fine job for 18 months. But his methods had run out of steam. It was clear to anybody paying attention. A change was critical. That the Friedkins were prepared to procrastinate should be a worry for all of us in terms of their judgement.

On the back of a

4-0 Win Vs Wolves and
Draws with City, Arsenal and City.

The writing was on the wall, but it was hardly procrastination, was it?

2 dire performances later and he was sacked.

I think it's a good policy. Because I think they knew it was likely they would go down this season. So if they will go into next season in the championship even if they sell their best players like delap and Davis they will have a team ready to compete to go straight back up again. There have been a few bad ones though like Phillips and muric who you mentioned. The centre backs like o shea and greaves look good acquisitions though.

I wouldn't rule out Southampton getting something there. Both very leaky, could see a 2-2 (which would be great for us)
