2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I can realistically see the promoted teams going straight back down most years going forward there is a gap that is expanding all the time.
Agree.

Leeds have a chance especially as Wolves will surely lose Cunha. They could be in a bit of a state last season.

The other two promoted teams will likely be bottom two.

Problem for the promoted teams is that clubs like Bournemouth, Forest, Fulham and Brentford are established Premier League teams.

The likes of Tottenham and Utd will surely improve.

Even taking out my bias - Everton look a bit of a sleeping giant given the revenue from the new stadium and ability to spend from this summer.

whilst this is factually correct leicester won 7 of their last 9 games in 2014/2015 to stay up and west ham won 7 of their last 9 games in 2006/2007 to stay up

as john cena says "never give up"
That's just actually made me feel a little sick. I've been strutting around confidently and now all I can think of is the most Everton thing to ever happen

Find it quite hilarious that some are having a go at Moyes for apparently talking the team and our performances down, and for not saying we are safe from relegation. 🤣🤣🤣

id say he’s being clever at the moment, why increase pressure on our players after the terrible couple of seasons we’ve had, and last time I checked, technically we are not mathematically safe.

If he’s still spouting come seasons end and over the summer than we can have another discussion.

This seems to be just one thing people can have a go at the manager for, because he’s made them all look a bit silly after their very public backing of the snot encrusted ballsack previously in charge, who lets lot forget, continually talked the club and its fans down to the very bottom and would have had us firmly entrenched in a relegation battle right now.

Teams like Bournemouth, Forest, Fulham and Brentford are established teams- until they aren't. 15 years ago Bolton, Blackburn etc were. 10 years ago you had Swansea and Stoke.

Granted, the four of them look good right now. Forest and Bournemouth especially. I have a feeling Brentford are getting closer to outstaying their welcome though. When Frank leaves them they could be in big relegation trouble.

I don't disagree with you but it's unlikely to happen for a few years. E.g., the difference in quality between Fulham and Sheffield United is huge.

Also, isn't Wolves in serious financial trouble?

I think Bournemouth and Forest will fall off next season... They've been overachieving, imo.

Yeah, I think Brentford are a little bit built on sand- take out Wissa, Mbuemo and Frank himself there's not an awful lot there, and all three will likely be targeted this summer. They are not a long way from being relegation candidates.

Throw Palace in there too, they've just sort of hung around the last few years on the back of a small number of good players, lose Guehi and / or Eze and there's not much there either.

Wolves will also lose Cunha in the summer I think. Tough season coming up for them next year.

Bournemouth and Forest will both get Europe next year, those extra games will cause a drop off too.

It feels like when not if with Brentford. I rate all three of those you mentioned, at least one of Wissa and Mbuemo will be poached this summer, and Frank must be thinking about a new challenge soon. He's a promising manager and his stock is high right now, but Brentford are starting to stagnate a bit- I think their team has peaked now. Its the right time for him to jump ship towards a team competing in Europe.

When he leaves I think it all unravels.

5 wins and a couple of draws......

Again would be exceptional work from Moyes considering the state we were in.
31 points from 19 games would be exceptional. (18 games realistically as Villa is harsh to count against him).

Would work out at 62 points over the season which is top 7 most years. Which with an injury ravaged squad that we’ve been told is only good enough for relegation battles would be incredible.
