2024/25 Relegation Thread

You do know everyone else had to play them too.

Obviously. You are missing my point though. Other teams have played some of these clubs already. But we haven't. And still have one of the worst records in the league. And have a terrible record against all these clubs. Which ultimately means our stretch of remaining games will be far more difficult than those also battling relegation.

Only saving grace is the other teams are so bad. We could easily blag a win midweek and that will probably be enough to keep us out the bottom 3 during these horrible fixtures.
Wolves are waking up a bit, same with Palace, Leicester have rolled the manager dice, and Ipswich are this years Leeds that everyone thinks are the world beaters with the best manager in the world. And we have awful futures through to the end of Jan. We are going to have to win one of our expected loss games.

Maybe they'll surprise me, but I can't see two of the teams below us putting together a run that puts us under real pressure. By that I mean puts us more than one win from getting out the relegation zone.

Ipswich or Wolves might put something together but not both of them at the same time.

Like most seasons, the relegation battle is starting to firm up before Christmas. It looks like there are going to be 6 clubs fighting for 3 survival spots. The lack of goals is going to make this season scary till the end.

they don’t have our nxt five fixtures

so they can and will over take us

Putting a positive spin but let's be honest even being two points clear of 18th is a total failure based on the fixture list so far this season. Likes of Wolves and Palace have already played Chelsea, RS, Man. City etc at home, hardest game this season at Goodison was Brighton.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think the team should be 5-6 points clear of 18th, infact it was all set up for that after Ipswich win.

I agree mate. I just think the teams below are really poor. As I said in a previous post, we could easily beat Wolves and that probably gives us enough of a cushion to be above the ofhers going into Christmas.

True. Though not sure we will get out this time if we dip into the zone. New stadium and positive outlook or not, the squad and fanbase are both on their arse. We look as bad as anyone again.

The worst thing about it is throwing the new manager choice into doubt. If we are 6 points clear, then safe to choose a genuine manager to change the whole style and culture of the club. If we are 19th by the time we can sack Dyche, that becomes a huge risk, and massively increases the temptation, quite rightly to go for a firefighting man of experience. And we are back on the same death spiral again.
