The players who have gone: Kenny, Tosun, Delph, and Allegedylfi are expected departures. The test of the decision-makers at the club comes now in who they choose to sell. The early signs are poor in that, it appears, Kenny was offered a deal. He shouldn't have been. No matter how cheap the deal was - and it was clearly too cheap even for Kenny - he just isn't of the required standard. Lampard sill has big decisions to make on our sellable assets - Pickford, Richarlison, and DCL - and then the really telling stuff on our less sellable assets liabilities: Mina, Holgate, Godfrey, Davies, Iwobi, Gomes - and let's be honest, Gray and Townsend too. And then there is Coleman, who really should only be back-up now or good for the last 20 minutes.
I'm all for signing Tarkowski. He's a better, more reliable defender than what we currently have. But the reconstructive surgery is only starting now. We are a Frankenstein's monster of a squad. Frank will do very well to turn that into Prince Charming. Unless the lovely James returns. Rodriguez - not the Burnley grock.
