40 years ago today

We were in the Paddock. Madness, kept getting lifted off my feet by the surge of the crowd. What a night. Goodison at its finest.
My Dad was in the Paddock that night and he said that he does not think his feet touched the ground during the second half.
He said he had never experienced anything like that game before or since and his first game was in 1938!!!

Lower Park End behind the goal, back against the wall standing on the barrier, old silky around me wrist for luck 😂. Greatest night of my era 🔵⚪
Me and my mate started out in the same place as you, but in the pre-match warm up the Germans were doing long range shooting practice and that ball was absolutely smashing into that Park End wall around our heads 😅 Decided to get down

They must have opened up a gate between the Park End and the Enclosure because I’m sure that’s where we watched the game from

Mind you I smoked a lot of weed back then so… 🤷‍♂️

I was 13. I was in the middle of the lower street end with my cousin and our mate. It was our usual spot. We ended up by the railings so many times. We got seperated a few times. I was lifted off my feet many times, the only match that's ever happened. The noise in that second half was a cacophony I've never heard since. That stayed with me.

Most of it was just a blur. It's hard to put into words to anyone not there what it was like.

Great memories. I was studying down in London at the time. I wasn't following the game as I wanted to watch the highlights later on the telly without knowing the result. I was hiding in a pub when someone I knew walked in at half time. "Everton are doing well aren't they?" he said in a way only a Liverpool supporter can. I wasn't hopeful but, as it turned out, the highlights were exactly that ...

16 years old, stood on the "ledge" bit of the Gwladys, to the right hand side of the goal when looking down at the pitch. That was my speck from 83 when I was old enough to go on my own or with mates until 85 when I started standing at the sides (Enclosure then paddock) and the paddock is where I still am today. I'm pretty sure it was just pay in on the night (at least for the terraces), I remember being outside a couple of hours or so before kick off waiting for the gates to open so I could get in and get my regular speck, these days I just amble in just as the match is starting! The feeling when the 3rd went in.....! I never went to Rotterdam as I was still in school but I didn't think I'd have to wait too long to see us in another European final...
Was in a similar spot on the barrier half way up gwladys St in line with right hand post of the goal. I'll never forget as long as I live how time seem to almost stand still as trev ran towards the goal then utter delirium. Likewise couldn't afford to get to Rotterdam
