Throw shaka, not shade.
Verily, 'tis a most mirthful and momentous anniversary this annum, marking 400 years since the publication of the 'first folio' of the collected plays of William Shakespeare.

Now I love me some Shakespoke. I'm not a scholar or owt, but love seeing his plays performed, adapted and reimagined. I had an English teacher with a genuine passion for him and a capability to articulate the weight, humour and continued importance of Shakespeare.
He took a gang of us down to Stratford to see Henry IV at the RSC and I was hooked. I've got tickets for Cymbeline in May and As You Like It in June. Gonna try and get to the Globe for the first time as well.

What say ye then noble friends? Fans? Any favourite performances? Any thespians past or still?

Shakespeare - boss I reckon.

Like you, I had a teacher who bought the stuff to life. Before him, I could barely read the stuff. I guess its a bit like cryptic crosswords. Until you are shown how to read them, they are a mystery.

Saw King Lear, (my fave) in Stratford, and Hamlet at The Hipprodome in Bristol. Hamlet was awful, cos the lead was a very drunk (cant remember his name, bloke in Aliens who had the alien explode out of his gut), but even still, the hush that descended when he started "that" speech, was palpable.

John Hurt?

Went to the RST in Stratford once years ago (once and once only!) to watch what I was told was a comedy - A Midsummer Nights Dream?
Fast asleep after about 10 minutes, woken up at the interval thinking that was it and relieved we could now go, only to be told it was just the interval and only half way through!
Absolutely horrendous - never again!
