To simple
People don't see past the Prem now, meaning the FA cup gets forgotten about
As time goes on the FA cup will lose all the charm it had....sadly in 10 years it will just be a hinderence
I actually think the EFL cup is a more genuine tournament now. It's expected that the clubs field a few reserves but the ties are all under the lights and atmospheric. Only drawback is the Suttons of this world don't get to compete. The FA cup has lost cred big style.

Another boring round of matches to come.

The Cup badly needed a clash of Titans to give it a shot in the arm.

Sutton is a good story but in reality it is a bye for Arsenal.

At least we are assured at least one big game in the 6th round as both Manc clubs and the London powerhouses look sure to qualify.

Spot on this.

Anyway, what do any Leeds fans feel about the team they put out against Sutton ? Reasonable given your position in the League, or a bit bloody stupid ?

@DRAGONZ_RULE
Mate I think it was 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

I certainly understood the reasoning behind resting key players given we are well in contention for the Play Off places (and who knows, if Newcastle or Brighton collapse in the latter stages of the season and we keep our form up we could perhaps even challenge for top 2?).

However, the reality is that there is a long way yet to run in this season, and with almost 12 teams pushing for the play off spots, there's no guarantee that we'll make it at this stage. An FA Cup tie against a non-league opponent was a virtual guarantee of progression though, and then it's luck of the draw in the final 16 with clubs like Lincoln, Oxford, Millwall, Huddersfield, Wolves, Fulham and Blackburn still there. Obviously Sutton ended up drawing Arsenal, but on another night we could have drawn Lincoln or Oxford, who knows.

All that is to say that I would have preferred us to rest key players but still put out a decent side - a mix of first XI and reserve players.

As it is we basically put out an U23s side and lost. Disappointed for the fans who forked out the cash to travel there and watch a youth team play a non-league side - they deserved a little more respect.

At the end of the day, if we end up getting promoted it will all be forgotten ... in the immediate aftermath it left a poor taste in the mouth, but already that's partially forgotten after our 90th minute winner at Blackburn tonight!
