The binman chronicles

Player Valuation: £80m
It's back from next season:

Imho it is another nail in the coffin of football. The richer clubs will be bringing on half a new team of world class players, this aided by the 75% rule is just going to create a gulf between the haves and have nots.

If football hadn't already killed itself as a sport in my eyes this would have tipped me over the edge. I'm astounded that this passed as the rule will only benefit the top 5 or 6 clubs with the biggest, richest squads.

Honestly- the league might as well save themselves the trouble of playing and getting injuries by just ranking teams in order of bank balance from the off.

As it is I really can't be arsed any more. I've accepted that a sport I once loved passionately is over for good.i don't even look up the results any more except for Everton- more out if morbid curiosity than interest.

to echo @N.S.N.O. all the above posters have already covered my disdain for this rule change and modern football leaving me numb.

I don't watch anything outside of the premier league now, before I could watch just about any game and find something from it. I think the thing that I struggle with most is this concept that "fans" must want only three of four teams to be competitive and to rinse everyone else. Who are these people and how long do you give the game before it eats itself?

Also, @TheBigIguana that drum you've been banging about competitive imbalance doesn't sound as misplaced now, eh?

A substitute was supposed to be only for a player that was injured. Now we have the farcical situation of a team totally changing half of their players. The FA are bending over backwards for these clubs and making a mockery of a fair playing field.

Think I'm going to just keep on rewatching The Big Match Revisited on ITV4 .. football in the 70's and 80's was my kinda footy. Tackles, 1 sub if you were lucky, all players seemed to be arsed and gave it a good go each game and some proper skillful ballers too.

and another moan .. why did watching these games on our old rented TV 40years ago seemed to have a better picture quality than anything on a modern tv that's not in HD????

It'll be interesting watching managers figure out ways to maximize this. It is going to fundamentally change things like adding subs in rugby union did I think.

It sucks for the sport though. Doing this within the confines of some kind of system of competitive balance would be whatever but now you're going to have it tilt even further. Talent will be even more consolidated.

Fine with it to be honest

Could be a very useful thing for a team that suffers as many injuries as we do

Gives us a chance to rotate more and give the younger players more minutes

If we manage to stay up and Lampard can tactically find a way to maximise the new rules then it could help us out a lot

Gives us a chance to bring on Lonergan as a winger.
