6 + 2 Point Deductions

Doesn’t really make any sense though. He says our P&L is improving, yet thinks we need to sell.

We were only 20m over for the 1st breach. I personally think we will be around 10m over for the 2nd breach (based on we argued we were only 8m over prior to the hearing which was after the end of the financial year so will/should have budgeted for that 10m rather than 20m).

Which would then leave us with 45m as a buffer for this year.
I think it ahould be better and wont be like a rich sale that we had to get a certain amount in, but think it will be part of the game now with alot of teams needing to sell to help improve the squd wolves with neto ect. Can see us needimg to sell to build the squad with several players lookijg set to leave

If no one had any money to spend in January I don't see why anyone would have money to spend before July
This is going to be an issue for a few clubs I think- the “need to sell before June 30” clubs appear to exceed the “room to buy before June 30” clubs. Chelsea for example apparently need a few big sales.

I’m not sure if our old friend amortisation comes in here though- a sale on June 30 can go entirely on the selling club’s accounts but spread across the full contract very little of it would presumably go on the buyer’s accounts for that year?

In our case I saw a suggestion Arsenal have a bit of wiggle room so if we do need a sale I’d keep an eye on Onana to them. The issue is if we are up against a deadline they aren’t getting full value for the player.

I think Ben will just have looked at the declared years, based on everything we know the 22/23 accounts will be much worse than the year before.
Yes it seems so, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense why. It's not like we have been spending excessively since 2022.

We can only assume that a reason is much increased interest costs on borrowings. And that clearly won't result in a sporting advantage, so we really need to start challenging that point, or we might never get out of this cycle.

Prem money comes in the summer.

If we can shift Onana, Branthwaite or Maupey before June 30, it will look better for the next season but we still will have some funds but very very limited due to Beto and Chermiti repayments starting.

Wages is another issue. We have Holgate, Keane and Maupey who aren't in the plans but we will lose Gomes, Gueye, Dele and a few other bit part players.

I expect a few more free transfers to save on fees but we have more movement on wages.
Depressing read that

The "small clubs" being forced to sell their prised assets to the sly 6... Masters job here is done.
I don't think it is just yet. This season, Chelsea might end up completely outside of European places and United might end up in the Europa conference. Both have huge debts. If they aren't under PSR pressure at the end of the season, then the whole thing might fall apart with clubs taking legal action against the premier league and masters being forced out.

I see the Premier League Shareholders emergency meeting is being held today to try and thrash out a financial deal they can present to the EFL. Apparently they will also discuss PSR given that it is currently not fit for purpose. They will still shaft Everton of course before any new rules come in 🤷‍♂️

Good morning guys. Looks like Everton are gonna be alright. Might be a good idea to stop being insufferably pissmongers now and go find something else to trigger your acute insecurities.

Just a small note to say thanks for 1855 pages of rehashed piss, it will really stuck it to Masters and the Premier League. Made all the difference in the appeal.
But we wanna appeal the appeal lad

Yeah; the year before was only like -10m or something wasn’t it?

I’m expecting them to be like -50m for 22/23 and that’s despite the sale of Gordon. (Which would put us at 10m over for the 2nd breach).

But that should then still give us 45m for this year. If we are desperate to sell again despite the reduction in wages over last couple of seasons etc then there’s something else going on.

If it was done to reduce taxes then it’s a criminal matter and the then Directors should be worried. I’ve not seen any suggestion that there is a Police investigation although if the there is or was it would delay any PL investigation.
Highly unlikely the Police would be investigating the allegations which seem to be that RA through his non Uk business personally made payments to individual's who I believe were in the main non Uk citizens most if not all of the individuals seem to be self employed so the declaration of the income would almost certainly fall to those individuals make the appropriate declarations and payments to their countries tax authorities .

The irony is had it gone through the clubs books then almost certainly HMRC would be bought into the debate but the fact that it appears these payments didn’t .

That said there would be an issue if it turns out that RA paid direct to agents sums that were the players responsibility. There is an allegation around Hazards agent . These payments could be deemed to be a benefit I kind and if that’s the case would need to be accounted for and tax / nic paid as Brighton did in their recent case

Funnily one of the allegations is that RA personally engaged a team of solicitors to examine the FFP & PS regulations and explore the whole question of their legality. The suggestion is that as Chelsea could / would benefit from this legal work it should be paid for and accounted by the club.

One very last point on this is a significant flaw in the PL&FA

Yes Arsenal are in dire need for that 8th choice centre mid, the poor darlings, well done Masters, admirable performance. Shouldn't forget the culpability of the other 14 cowardly owners for allowing him to do this. Football has become a joke.

Isn't the meeting jus to get the clubs to agree to pay hush money to the EFL in the hope of avoiding external regulation?
