6 + 2 Point Deductions

Logic would say that as it’s been widely stated there isn’t a “set framework” the PL use for the current P&S rules, having a current ongoing appeal pointing out the inconsistent elements of their approach would mean it’s not a wise idea to plough on and apply the same rules to bring charges against a new club and also the same club subject of an appeal against the sanction for 80% of the new charge.

The optics on this are not great as a starting point but the legal aspects are even worse for the PL.

If our appeal is somehow successful, it brings the whole thing crashing down, even just a partial reduction in the penalty. The rumoured changes from August which by all accounts would see the club safely under the limit also would open up legal action if they see a club relegated because of the previous rules.

It’s not the charge that we are contesting, it’s the interpretation and application of penalties that we are which of course seem to be administered by a gang of five year olds

Anyone have a clue what this part of our statement means?

"The club has no option but to submit a PSR calculation which remains subject to change pending the outcome of the appeal"

All this is enough to make you walk away from the most important, unimportant part of your life. We are owned by a Russian oligarch and not Moshiri, got sent packing by the government, what exactly were we meant to do? ..

It means we want to mitigate part of our spending on the stadium but this was rejected by the Commission for the previous 3 year period, so pending our appeal we have to use their interpretation.
