6 + 2 Point Deductions

I can’t wait until the Other14 clubs announce a 14 team breakaway Super League that pushes the 6 team Premier League down to the second tier of English football.

It’ll be even better when they confirm VAR won’t be permitted, and all referees will be foreign.
Where can I sign? I'll be the most impartial ref Everton has ever seen. "What? Deffo that shot from Hibbo crossed the line. What you mean it ended up to Dixie's statue? It was a good goal!"

Athletic latest article

Everton argued that £17.4million worth of interest payments were used for their new stadium project and should not be included in their PSR calculations, but when the commission found in the league’s favour, that shortfall left them in breach.

With the 2023 summer window already closed, Everton were unable to do business in the market to recover the amount, leaving them at risk of a breach in 2022-23 as well. Almost overnight, the club’s internal forecasting was put out of kilter, with pessimism quickly setting in over their attempts at compliance for the latest cycle.

Indeed, the club used the commission’s assumptions from October, which they intend to challenge on appeal, when filing their PSR submission last month.
Basically, we sell a player in this transfer window for 20m then and we are completely compliant?

Surely that's the end of the issue right there. We haven't had enough time to address the issues of the previous punishment.
The whole situation is farcical and like you say it’s like punishing someone after they have driven off the side of a cliff by chucking them off another one.

This but is interesting though…

“But that is different in Everton's case. Importantly, the current charge will not be heard until the appeals process for their original punishment of a 10-point deduction is completed, and the decision of said appeal could have a significant impact on any further commissions.”

If ever there was an “off ramp” for the PL then this is it leaving two options:

1) double down and the optics show inconsistent administration of a set of rules with contradictory elements such as double jeopardy etc. being the fabric of the game into disrepute, particularly for the run-in and permutations around relegation but also consigning a club or clubs for that matter with the history of Everton to not just administration but insolvency.

Or

2) use the appeal to have a root and branch review, factor elements such as global geopolitics, inflation and other factors as a opportunity for the PL to say “we heard the fans and want to make it fair” blah blah blah to save face.

Either way, expect masters and co to be pocketing a healthy severance and a new job at capita or the like in the next 18 months. Their jobs are untenable after this debacle.

it’s not a laughing matter
I take the A-Team as seriously as anyone on here.

But, let's have it right, none of us has a single clue about the intricacies of this situation. It reeks of stitch up, stinks of ulterior motives.

I know you go your way, for me, I hate every aspect of this mess. Show me the knave that trusts to justice and I will point at the land he used to tend.

Or, if you prefer, I ain't getting on no appeal Hannibal, I pity the fool that make me understand depreciation.
