TV Series

I’m thinking 28 Years Later could be one of the films of the year.

As Sinners is proving right now, with the right vision, writing, cast and a willingness to take risks and go against the grain, certain cliched genres can still be outstanding.

Garland is one of my favourite directors and Danny Boyle is obviously great as well

I just struggle to see what can be done with the genre at this point. Hopefully, I'll be surprised.

From the trailers they seem to have borrowed a lot from The Last of Us 2. I’ll move in to spoilers for people that haven’t played the game or seen the trailers.

They have set up a contained community which seems to largely keep them safe from the infected (Jackson in the game). They go out on patrols. But out in the wild a cult seems to have been set up which seems quite like the Seraphites in the game. So they are up against the infected and the remaining humans

Last episode was great. Didn’t play the game so I don’t know.

I don’t know if you count a Disney + series in this thread, but I’m really looking forward to Andor season 2. Also been liking the new Daredevil series.
Haven’t started Andor season 2 yet. Am very gutted it’s the final season though as the first season has been the best series yet. (Notable shout outs to Rebels and Clone Wars as well).

I am very excited for Shadow Lord though. As much as Darth Maul has been in an out of various series/films and had his arc come right round in Rebels, he is my favourite character so buzzing he is getting his own series.

I can't bring myself to watch the second season of The Last of Us. I enjoyed the first half of the first season but was honestly pretty underwhelmed by the time season 1 had ended.

I think I now have the same views towards zombie films/shows as I do superhero films/shows, that being that they are just fundamentally lame as **** and played out to the point where no amount of good acting etc can make them watchable so long as all the banal cliches associated with zombies still exist

Not even hyped for 28 years later :dodgy:
That's a real shame as I thought episode 2 season 2 was excellent TV, Bella Ramsey and Pascal Pedro acted out the scene exactly how you'd want it and I knew what was coming. just give the first 2 episodes a go, if you still feel the same then I guess you haven't lost too much.

Just caught up on the first 3 episodes of Andor.

Have seeing glowing reviews all round but i am struggling to understand why. Finding it a bit boring, but will continue to watch to see how it develops.

This series has 12 episodes which covers the four years run up to Rouge One. So each drop of 3 episodes covers roughly a year each and have been made as sort of 4 "films" if you like.

There's lots of space for character development and the nitty gritty of what a fascist authoritarian state looks like as it falls deeper and deeper into darkness.

There's plenty of flash bang in other elements of the Disney take on Star Wars, I kinda prefer the way Andor is done to be honest.

I haven’t played the game, had an idea about part of the story line but didn’t know how or when it played out. Trying not to give anything away.

Just watched episode 2 and it was fantastic. Really reminded me of Hardhome Season 5 Episode 8 of GOT

Andor back with a bang for me, best show the last few years imo and the best Star Wars stuff they’ve done.

Not sure I like the 3 episodes = a year thing they have done though this series.

There is such a richness and depth of story
that I think they could have made 4-5 series and really gave us even more brilliant character and world building.

Also finally got around to Landman - Billy bob Thornton is just quality yet again (basically playing himself it seems! 🤣) great series so far, only about 4 eps in.
