I've read that article from yesterday a couple of times, I can't figure how several have concluded it's definitely Cahill.

I’m hoping that since they have already met with Dyche and Thelwell they are on the same page but we all know how that goes where Everton is concerned. I’m guessing the while multi club model and having a central sporting director etc means that they will be tapping into a broader network of scouts etc than just Everton’s.

My point is, some people have jumped on it being Cahill because he's a sportsman with Everton connections who spent some time at Harvard.

Your Howard suggestion is far more likely than Cahill (in my opinion, but still unlikely.
