A Disgrace.

The Celtic Supporters Trust, The Celtic Supporters Association and the Green Brigade had a meeting with the Celtic Hierarchy earlier this year where the 3 groups stated they did not want the Poppy on the Celtic Shirt. Thats more than some.

I dont see the point in forceing something on a group that the majority dont want to be honest.

pfim has it right. Having a political say at football wrong sport should remain just that sport. The sfa requested all spl teams wear a poppy 2 or 3 years ago. Celtic made a statement of wearing a poppy. As did all spl teams, unfortunately our fans made an idiot of themselves. On another note, I noticed not all english teams last year wore a poppy on their strips last year. Plenty of celtic fans have condemned this behaviour.

Right to free speech and to protest = yes.
But it was the wrong way, the wrong place and rather stupid. Will only hype up more hate as what could have been a decent point (that of objecting to illegal wars) will be lost in the xenophobia.
The two (hooligan elements) of the sides up there is Scotland should be allowed to cut each other to ribbons so the rest of us can get on with our lives. Football doesn't want or need them and it never has.

Just seen it and posted on the other thread

******* vermin

I am sorry but people with that attitude should be put on a plane with a one way ticket end of

( Or put against a wall )

If anyone brought a sign that said that to an American sporting event, theyd get the [Poor language removed] beat out of them.

How does everyone get worked up about this? Wear one, dont wear one. Respect it, ignore it/dont respect it.

One thing you should know about all this [Poor language removed] at Celtic is the internal politics of the club and the way some sections of support have been a) at war with unwanted chairman, John Reid, who they see as a war criminal and a bit of a New Labour belter and b ) at war with the SFA and their refs over 'bias' amongst their referees who they see as favouring 'native' clubs in decision making.

It's never as black and white as it's usually portrayed.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but I agree.

Don't know if it's a good thing?
Maybe they should be politely asked to put their signs away, maybe apologize to the mother of a lost son sitting a few rows down? yea that might work.. .

Kicking the dog [Poor language removed] out of them would definetly work though.. and that would be showing mercy.

At every Jacksonville Jaguar home game, we get a video message home from a local soldier/sailor deployed overseas broadcast on the video boards at some point during the game, and then the family of the serviceman/woman (comped for the game) is introduced from the area under the south end goal posts. Invariably there is a standing ovation.

I can't imagine anything like this happening here - there would be some dog [Poor language removed] kicked to be sure. After that, the real fight would start. Understand, this is a Navy town in the same manner that Portsmouth is a Navy town. I'm sure there's a buttload of local issues involved w/ Celtic, but still... I kind of had a soft spot for the hoops until now.

Thats the bit that's a bit chewy like, is it possible to vent ones feelings against the war and against the decision makers that made that war and not be slandered as disrespecting the poor sods on the front line and their families when they come home in a pine suit?

Pardon me if that was a touch blunt, it was meant to be as nice as possible.

Go about it a different way mate. Object the war if you please. Don't slander the men (and woman) who've died for country, following orders.
