Smith won't be a loaner Alex wants rid of him he was playing out of position most of the time anyway. He really wants to come to Everton and a place to play in a top side. Boro have agree a 6 million fee with Ure but he won't go. If Hughes takes BT off our hands for 3.5 to 4 million Smith will be a signing for Moyes mark my words. I'm not entirely sure if we need to spend on him but Moyes really likes him and always has. So I expect in the next week or so. I wish the Riggy rumours would go away little chance of that happening.
 
Well BT has not gone yet and it is rumoured Blackburn are sniffing around again. Have to sat just not convinced on Smith, very similar player to BT. If Smith cam I think the young guns coming up would get less chances to show themselves. Beginning to think as for strikers would prefer the status quo.
 
I agree wholeheartedly I'm just not sure either if he really brings what we need. I suppose Moyes is dealing with this same issue as we speak. Stating on the OS that he will only sign a player if it benefits us. Will Alan Smith benefit us??
I am more on your side Robert I think the status Quo is fine. A couple of midfielders are a must to me over a striker. We'll see how the wind blows on this one. Moyes has always had a thing for Smith though and that makes it more compelling a arguement he will be at Everton this next seasonif BT leaves.

bring smith in, i couldnt complain, would be nice to see cahill and smith outdo each other in the aggression stakes.
 
I think you are right it depends if BT goes before we take on another striker. With what we have in strikers (everyone seems to have forgotten McF) lokks as though midfield could be strengthened or the back four. It's that flipping Africa cup coming up in the middle of the season!
 

hopefully our lead at the top of the table come mid january will be so large, we can let yobo go and play for nigeria and let him, lescott, arteta and AJ have a month off.

Alternatly if the former nigeria players keep criticising yobs, then he might not actually go.

Just cant see Moyes spunking that amount of money on a single player, doesnt Riquelme play in the centre too? With news of that Swiss dude signing I think it rules us out of Riquelme, hope Im wrong like.
 

Dont know mate. Too similar in some ways, the Swiss dude can put his foot on the ball and strengthens the options we have in midfield.

Call it a hunch but can see the money getting spunked on a wide midfielder/winger.

SWP would be my preference.
 
He is but dont see Riquelme as being an urgent need with the options we have. Sure I would love to see him in a blue shirt but think Fernandes loan would be a more viable option and the more likely one.

But then I am consistenly wrong...
