A United/Moyes Revalation

I love those quotes from United fans - the over reaction of general football fans coupled with the entitlement of a 'big' club fan.

'before he destroys the club' - yep, 8th and next stages of CL as well as still being in both cups. Destroyed.
'Scary' 'Despressing' - just **** off. It might not be as fun as when you won everything but, Jesus Christ, get some perspective.

OP is pretty much spot on with that analysis.

He did good things Moyes, but he also was a stubborn cart. He took forever to make changes because he always had his "best 11" out on the pitch and that anything else would not be as good. There was no real plan B in any of his matches which is what Man U fans are seeing at the moment.

His biggest crime after not playing youth was destroying forwards with his methods... notice how they always start great but then fade away, his methods of needlessly chasing and pressing defenders just made forwards tire much faster. If you ask someone like Van Nisterooy to do that, he wouldn't score either.

Except he is playing Januzaj.

And if they and he turn it all around their opinions will flip back to how they were.

And as for Vellios, it's pretty clear he has serious attitude problems and is not fancied (bad choice of word because he's dead sexy) by anyone at the club. And that's under the Moyes reign AND now.

Doubled with the fact he's; not very good. Watched a few u21 games and he struggles to do much in the game.

He would also have benefitted from a competent number 2 IMO. Even Fergie had strong, opinionated assistants as Fergie saw the importance of not being dictatorial in team strategy.

Steve Round who has done the square root of **** all in his career or Rene Meulensteen / Carlos Quieroz who are both heavily respected in the world game? Even Steve McLaren is a fantastic coach.

I'll admit that I personally drank the Koolaid, thinking that Moyes and his tactics helped an otherwise mediocre side overperform. I thought for sure things would go downhill after he left.

Boy was I ever wrong. By the end of his tenure, his tactics and squad strategy were definitely holding us back.

A good summation and one with which I largely agree. The subs issue was one for me, you could guarantee 20 mins from end our EX would be in there and honestly some of his subs were dire but capitulating to Liverpool in the derby was unforgiveable.

As for the Youth thing, Name one young player under Moyes that you can pick out to say he has benefited from his managment? That is what scares me in Hindsight, only Anichebe outlasted Moyes as a youth player, but he was a right winger for large portions of his time here?! I'm pretty sure if Vaughn had not been injury prone then he would have been here and Victor long gone but we will never know that sadly.

Always baffled me why Moyes insisted on playing him RM...then, remember the Gerrard derby, he played LM with Pienaar tucked inside! Vic is a strange one though...I often wonder if he would have turned out better with different coaching. He has all the attributes but it's too late for him now.

http://www.redcafe.net/threads/an-honest-evertonian-account-of-david-moyes.378918/

This was a thread i started on RedCafe, a united site a couple of months back. IT was not meant to be an argumentative piece, simply an honest view on our former manager to gauge reaction from the United fans on there. Whether you agree with my piece or not it makes interesting reading.

The reason why i post this up is simply because if you read the comments throughout you will see a change in opinion towards myself and my views. For those to lazy to read it starts with 'well this is interesting, we should watch out', followed by a mass 'you don't know what you are talking about, you should be grateful Moyes was a miracle worker'.

I had given up on the thread a long time ago until i recieved an email telling me there had been further additions to the thread, and what a response! It came after the Newcastle game and basically fans were going back to my thread saying, 'oh **** he was spot on what he said'. The atitude went from your wrong to your right, in the space of about 4 weeks.

A lot of people were wrong about moyes.

His integrity is questionable based on Fergusons autobiography compared to his public statements.

No integrity.

Means the public persona has crashed.

His decision making looks suspect, inept. Or devious at least.

Only read the last page on that Redcafe thread, but the United fans seem quite positive about Moyes, and are arguing against the anti Moyes posters.

Yeah. They wonder how the hell he got the United job.

I do not which papers or programmes you read/watch but Journos and pundits all speak highly of our EX re his record at Everton and this seemed a logical step up to them but clearly as you are in Ontario you have little clue what is written here or spoken.

Besides you can go and do one after giving me all those negs, no doubt you can now do some more on me, bully for you.

Probably the same reason he played Ossie there all those years. No-one really knows.
