Speaking to Onze Mondial, Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré admitted that he feels underrated in France.

“I remember when I appeared on Canal Plus. I really didn’t enjoy it. It was at the time when PSG were tracking me. And one of the journalists was a bit pro-Idrissa Gueye at that time. It was not nasty but anyway. It was a bit like: “Abdoulaye, you are a good player but you are not good enough to play for PSG or a big club.” That hurt me a bit because I had been for three years performing in the Premier League. I had very good statistics, better ones than even certain French internationals.”

“I still feel this thing: “He is a good player but not a top player or not for a top club.” In France, I am a bit underrated, yes, certainly. My fight will always be there, to prove people that I deserve to be in my place. I can still do better, I can achieve my dreams, that will be my response to all the people who might have doubted me at one moment or another.”

The absolutely horrendously misplaced arrogance in this.

‘Everyone thinks I’m rubbish, no successful clubs want me and I’ve never been near the national team. I think it must be canal pluses fault.’

He could try finding another player in a blue shirt a bit more often. And going into tackles like he wants to win them would help as well.

The absolute bollocks to come out with this when his only “achievement” is to be relegated, and he can’t play a 5 yard pass or Mark a man.

Explains why he jogs about not giving a toss though. Crap mentality. We enabled this by paying a big fee for him though.

Ill stay on his side as long as he keeps giving 100% and not shirking. When the team improves he will grow with it. Can count at least 5 times this season he has tracked back and stopped goalscoring opportunities with his pace and willingness.
Getting a box to box midfielder thats also technically top class for £20m is never going to happen, we knew what we were getting.

Fulham’s 2 goals would’ve been avoided if he tracked his man.

Wow, he's definitely nowhere near as good as he believes haha. But at least he's ambitious I guess.

Wtf is that???

I didn't get that from the interview strangely. He wants to play for the French national team which is good. I am a Doucoure fan, but to me hes a mile off hat currently with the options available.

The solution is simple, he needs to be at the Spurs/Fulham away level most weeks. I don't mean the goal, thats a nice bonus, but the defensive work.
