….there’s certainly more ways than one to skin a cat but we are in the present & in this moment I say he’s one of the first names on the team sheet & he’s doing a proper job. Lovely lay off for the Simms goal.

Appreciate what he does, not what he doesn’t do.

For now. Yes. In a relegation fight.
Lets not kid ourselves though hes anything other than a mid table standard player. Could be an important one though in it i will say that.

…I never get these: ‘he’s a mid table player’, or ’he’s a Championship standard player’. Forgive me, but I think they are nonsense and a little ignorant.

Who’d have thought Nobby Stiles would be a World Cup winner. There was much better players than Stiles available to Ramsey but he told him to “win the ball & give it to Charlton”. When Lineker left Everton we had injury problems & we brought in journeymen, Wayne Clark & Paul Power. They weren’t top drawer, but they were just what we needed to win the title.

Blend and partnerships. I often think a player isn’t good enough, but i rarely categorise a footballer because he might just be a perfect fit somewhere.

Nobby stiles was a good player. Awful example.
Games moved on a bit aswell now.
We're not going to agree which is fine. But there is a reason we were fighting relegation last season. And now this season.
We've bought very average players.

But you’re adding a Man Utd player who won Titles and a European cup to the best players in the league, you’re making out he had 2
Left feet.

And also with Clarke and power,
Adding them to a very good squad, the 1st or 2nd best in the country. How would Wayne Clarke or power do in this team?

You will occasionally get a average player finding his way into a great team that wins things, but is say it’s rare. Could doucoure be that player in a team challenging for a top 10 finish, maybe. The European places Not a chance

Yes got a flick on from a yard out, well done. He’s still a poor footballer and we should be definitely not be renewing his contract.

…..nonsense. The timing of his run for the ‘flick on’ he scored at Forest and him being in the right place today shows real desire and application. If he wasn’t there tonight to get that goal then nobody would’ve talked about him, but he was there. He had the desire to get on the end of something.

Amazes me how folk form an opinion and never want to veer from it.

I will never veer from my opinion that doucoure is nothing more than a relegation fodder footballer. Think his 7/8 yrs in the prem mainly around the relegation places proves that and when he finally got relegated, only a poor bang average Everton team wanted him.

Shame he didnt show that desire for the last manager, quite happy to down tools when it suited him. He will do the same to dyche.

Exactly my point. Dropping players into quality sides who might not be the standard of the rest of the trophy winning squad you can get away with.
Buy to many of them though? Well you see where we are for the proof.
Btw paul power was possibly one of kendalls most astute signings in that 87 title side. Talk about seeing something in a player who could fit a role.

Yes power was a legend at city and a very good player.

Again. Spot on. But this is the GOT forum. People are often swayed over 2/3 games. Rather than basing it over a season or two.
We've bought plodders. For now we have to get on with it and hope they dont get us relegated.
I say well played today. Can we have another dozen performances out of you now.
