You cant go giving contracts because of that goal. Thats no way to run a club when you know over a season they're part of the reason you're 45 minutes from being relegated. Celebrate surviving by the skin of your teeth by all means on that day only. Dont reward it by issuing bumper contract extensions.
Did ok at Brighton as well? I'm all for piling in on the team, such is how bad they've played, but some earn a crust of favour because of heroics past. No one was mentioning salary and diet that last day. There's a lot of players phoning it in at the moment, hammer the lot.

Absolutely not a great comparison though - Horne played 2 more years and was actually decent, played in and won a cup, and left when he should have.

You mean 10 min per game isn't enough to get coveted experience? Something is truly going on - that something is Sean Dyche.
He wants defensive solidity, having work horse Doucoure play AM and slot back in to press fits his bodies behind the ball ethos. If Doucoure could do it to a higher standard he wouldn't be here. We're skint and the best we can afford are what we have. Doucoure is a symptom of a much larger set of issues.
We are praying on being just good enough to survive, and slowly turn a knackered and expensive squad around then it's another ground up rebuild. Doucoure won't be part of it, and neither will quite a few others.

I understand why he's there, but, for a second, imagine that he doesn't 100% have to play and chase shadows and we play with a more technical player there, like we've done with Harrison (who is also garbage) and Gomes a few times and looked better instantly. Or that we don't set up so that he's the focal point to chase down knocked down/headed by the striker balls? Almost as if there's more than 1 way to play football and Dyche picks the only way he knows as he'll never change.

Past his absolute fluke of form - Doucoure is always and will forever be a good water carrier; it's how Ancelotti used him too, as he has the technical ability of an U10, despite the physical ability.

Doucoure is absolutely a part of this knackered and overly expensive squad though, seeing as we paid good money for him, paid him good money then gave him even more for this year too? lol

quite a lot of people were against giving him a new contract as they realise what he is. Extremely inconsistent and if not getting a goal often a liability.
I wouldnt have offered any of them a reward tbh.
We didnt offer gareth farrelly top player salary just because of that goal.

gomes shrinks into the ground the moment he gets a meaningful contact to remind him he's in a physical game. I've had well and truly enough of harrison, I'd like to get a few other options used in the support striker role, but dyche wants the legs to keep working, so there isn't the room. It's crap or bust football at the minute because survival is at stake.

"We were that close to going out for ever"

Dyche wants whatever and watches them in training and sniffs their pants and socks or whatever, but he's a terrible manager who doesn't know how to manage a team, what he wants is irrelevant as it's not good for the team.

And we will be again, thanks to insisting on absolutely atrocious crabs like Doucoure and slugs like Dyche - match made in hell for Everton; one can't play football, the other can't manage a team, both overpaid.

Ok super, Dyche sacked (££££) Doucoure given away (golden handshake ££££) who's next?

Coleman, Young, full rebuild incoming, an actually pragmatic manager that will play younger players.

Docoure is going anyway, point is to not extend anything to him ever again.
There is no money. This isn't the realm of discount Davey, the world got wise to that caper, and it seems the youth squads are not heaving with world class talents either.

10 year contract to Doucoure it is.
It'll be Ayew. or Weghorst. We're competing for cast offs from other squads and the draw here is a few extra quid. Or at least it was. We've got very nearly nothing. It's madness how we are praying to so little to save us when we've spurned all the grace and favour earned during the doldrums. This phase could yet be the most painful.

I made a list a few weeks ago, but if Dyche stays - imagine how much jizz he'll produce if we get James Milner, Johnny Evans and James Tomkins, while renewing Coleman and Young? We'll need a forward so naturally Michail Antonio is also available.
