2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

You know soccer is an English term that fell in fashion in the 70’s and out of fashion in the 80’s right? They used it a lot on itv iirc.

Short for the ‘association’ part of ‘association Football’ - it was at a time when the commentators for rugby league used to call it ‘rugby football’… which it is, obv.
Yes, I know that but times have changed, languages are organic, and "soccer" is now seen as an American term...

if he stays on he needs to take a drastic pay cut, I'm hoping the days of £100k players, while we aren't a European team, are long gone. That has crippled us and almost ruined us, we need sensible contracts now.
The big European clubs used to attract players with big money, on condition certain targets were reached. So if a player wanted to earn his 100k he`d have a basic salary of about half and the rest of the 100k would be made up through bonuses for goals scored, assists, clean sheets, game wins, trophy wins etc. it would be nice to be able to do this and make the players earn the money rather than have them pocket it by under achieving.

Alcaraz has a trigger in his contract that he have to sign after X amount of starts

whilst he's looking good I dont think anyone would say lets deffo sign him now

so I think we'll be seeing a lot more of Doucoure until that threshold for Alcaraz's clause is no longer attainable, especially with N'Diaye injured

Was thinking this. That way they can have a good look at him without being obligated to buy. Can also negotiate on the fee that way if we did want him
