Folks,

We've recently improved our statistic monitoring and have become aware that nearly 27% of last months traffic had a version of 'adblock' installed. In Layman's terms, nearly 30% of you exclude any of our adverts.

Now, our sponsors have trackers on their adverts to see how many times their adverts are being loaded, which they evaluate careful prior considering any sponsorship renewal - so you can see the problem we have.

Our adverts are not intrusive, and clearly, we rely on them to help keep this place maintainable. GOT is by some margin my biggest expense and the long and short of it is, if our sponsors dont renew and I can't secure an alternative - GrandOldTeam dies.

Play the game - if you have adblock, make the two clicks required to add us to your safe/whitelist.

Instructions
(Instructions may vary depending on the adblock software and version you run, please reply if you're unsure)

1. Click on the Adblock Icon (Usually top right of your browser)

2. Click 'Don't run on pages on this domain' (Or, 'Add to Whitelist' or 'Exclude Adblock on this domain)

3. Finally, confirm your option

I'm loving these Ads btw.

Only $59 p/m for a Samsung Androidy Phone on a Freedom Connect Plan.

minimum 24 month term, minimum cost $1,536 or 64 p/m with minimum $5 per handset p/m charge.

Bumping this again.

Another month when Google tell us nearly 40% of our traffic are Blocking our unobtrusive ads.

I just realised i still had adblock enabled on this site after moving to my new laptop, white listed now.

Is there any way you could enable some sort of pop up which would appear while browsing the forums with a simple message about adblock use ? I've seen it on a few sites, basically says 'We appreciate that ads on some sites can be annoying but the ones on this aren't, please whitelist' etc.

Just a thought

Considering denying access to the site to anyone with any form of Adblock (But that could penalise people accessing).

Drastic, but desperate times!

Take Goat for instance, probably loads more pages on here than 90% of our visitors - we're paying for that usage, but our sponsors can't see it.

May sound daft but it might be worth putting a laymans guide together for people who seriously haven't got a clue about this type of stuff. Some won't know where to start.

I see ads.

And dead people.

Im so messed up.

Dead people advertising stuff would scare me slightly.

Without sounding dodgy, couldn't a formula be created in which a certain amount of income is guaranteed by a certain number of hits. Make a plan to achieve that target and we're on our way..

Am I thinking about this too much?
