£22mill worst off? I'm sure Wenger will get someone good for half that price.

That's why I said "until they get a similar type of player in". Wenger won't go out and buy anyone - he'll only buy certain types of players (young, good technical ability. If he doesn't fancy anyone, he won't buy players for the sake of it.

I think that there is a very, very good chance that Arsenal will not buy a forward with aerial ability this transfer window, and in the short term they will be worse off for that.

So it'll be....

De Jong

Wright Philips Barry Robinho
Tevez
Adebayor

With
Bellamey
Santa Cruz
Ireland
Elano

And the rexst on the bench. Not bad. Nice to see most of the bench will be taking it on the chin that they're no longer 1st team players. hahaha

ireland will be the first name on the team sheet. he was our best player last season, and hughes loves him.
we will definitely have to let some strikers go.
i imagine benjani, ched evans, and possibly caicedo.
i would like to keep caicedo if possible, because you can guarantee the two sick notes (bellamy & santa cruz) won't last the full season.
could also potentially lose adebayor to the ANC.

But to me Ireland is pretty much an attacking midfielder.

You play a 4-4-2 what you could end up with is 5 attacking players (Tevez, Adebayor, Robinho, Wright Philips, Ireland) with Barry sitting in the middle...

IMO its going to great going forward but Robinho and Wright Phillips aint going to be tracking back and getting stuck in...and Ireland, while a good player, isnt known for his ball winning skills. So that leaves Barry doing the mopping up which is a bit of a gamble - which is why I thought Hughes bought De Jong for to add steal to the midfield.

Without him the midfield looks flimsy and easily knocked off the ball.

Which is why for me I can see a City team with Ireland in it with the players that have been bought.

the stuff i've read points to us playing a chelsea-ish 433

----------adebayor
robinho--------------tevez

----ireland--------barry
-----------de jong

you are bang on about robinho not tracking back
but SWP is one of the best defensive wingers in the prem. always tracks back.
and ireland is a capable ballwinner. i think he's underated there.

So no room for Wright Philips then? It'll be like Chelsea again for the poor lad.

i could see dropping de jong for wright phillips against the weaker teams, but yeah, with no europe this year there are less games to go around. the likes of santa cruz, petrov, and elano will also not be guaranteed to start. but there will be injuries and suspensions, so anything could happen.

He's apparantly stalling to get a better offer from another club.....

Adebayor is the kind of player everyone needs at the club....someone who's not arsed to be there.

170K/week for Adebayor??? A player who prob won't start on City. I hope our players aren't noticing this after all what would Cahill or Arteta be worth on City?

Isn't our highest paid striker Yak at 60K/week? And I'd take yak any day over Adebayor.
