Maybe if more of an effort could be made to put an arm around him he could be persuaded to give it another go with us?

Silva seems to take man management very seriously and the club is clearly keen to invest in our young talent. Davies has been captain for a few games this season, Coleman was dropped for Kenny for a bit, DCL starting regularly as a striker. Not sure where the evidence is that Lookman hasn't been given a chance.

If you look at his minutes its the equivilent of 6 premier league games.

That would be fine if we gave him a run of those games in a row...but its 3 starts in a season then a few mins here and there...

I think that’s the pertinent point though; Walcott is a donkey so just how poor has Lookman been in training?

Now, Lookman's former Everton boss Allardyce has given his honest verdict, suggesting that Lookman only shows flashes of quality right now, and needs to prove he can be more consistent in order to get regular playing time ahead of Theo Walcott.

“Is Lookman better than Theo Walcott? Well, not quite yet,” said Allardyce. “He’s got great talent, but actually, when you look at his 90 minutes, there’s these flashes of very good skill, but not often enough.”

“He’s got to prove that he can deliver on a more regular basis, and I think Lookman will get in the team on a regular basis then,” he added.




Asked what Lookman needs to do in order to hold down a place in the Everton starting XI, Silva said: "He has to be the same Lookman everyday.

“He has to be the same Lookman that has that desire.

"We know what his quality is and you know I believe in his quality since the first day I saw him so it has to be same Lookman everyday with the same desire everyday.

“He needs to understand what the coach wants coming from him, and any winger in our model, because, after that, the quality he has.

“He is a young football player but, being honest with you, I expect Ademola to be on a different level already this season.

“I keep believing, 100%, in his quality as a football player, there are no doubts about that, but what I want to see coming from him is the same desire coming from him, each day, to achieve that, to reach that level he wants and the level I believe he can play at."

If Allardyce is agreeing with Silva then theres probably something to this inconsistency and lack of focus/desire to push himself everyday to improve in training is seems...
