Good article on Adu which covers several things we've discussed plus a new rumor of going to Benifico.

While I'm familiar with what he has and hasn't done it would be nice to see him succeed. In the end the States will want it's own home grown stars if they are ever to latch onto the sport. Sort of like what Lance Armstrong did for the Cycling. We're fickle that way.

He is good, but I am not sure whether he could be premiership material.

Not Prem material at all at the moment. Does possess the ability to make something out of himself. Very quick a foot and is learning with the big boys. Had a very good U-20 tournament bow. But has hardly looked a threat in the MLS for sometime. Deffo one for the future.

He's starting to adapt and his coach is putting more faith in him. Plus, he's training in arguably a much more professional environment. No offense to RSL but we're talking Benfica here.

As a winger (either left or right) he could play in the prem. He's got speed to beat people on the wing and his crosses are great. However he's been adamant that he doesn't want to play wing and has said he doesn't give it his all when he was asked to play wing in MLS. At the U-20 World cup he was unstoppable and did all of his damage on the wing.

Unfortunately, he wants to be a striker in a 4-4-2 or sit behind the strikers in the middle of the pitch in the 4-3-1-2. However his passing in the middle of the pitch is terrible. Plus physical holding midfielders and CBs tear him up and he ends up losing possesion in milliseconds.

He might be able to play as a striker in a 4-3-3 though. If he's so adamant that he's going to play in the middle he better start working on his passing.

I'd take Vaughn/Anichebe over him provided Vaughn stops getting injured. Adu isn't really a goal scorer though, he's more of playmaker (which is why he should be on the wing). He's actually kind of like Pinnear. He's got all of Pinnears flips and tricks down only Freddy is a step faster and his crosses are better (and his ego is bigger too).

Adu is a bellend period for proof of this check Freddy Adu.com and watch his tricks of the month...he does a trick that I could do when I was 6 and tries to pass it off as Brazillian skills. That's what you call a big ego, achieved nothing but I'll show people how to do my skills that work in the MLS.

I think that was a bit rough Zero, he's got talent, or he wouldn't be where he is already. The kid does a pretty good job both on and off the pitch, I for one would welcome the lad to Everton - but that aint gonna happen, period!
